I Have Achieved My Ultimate Goal

When I first began T, my T asked me what my ultimate goal would be. I told him I wanted to be able to drive the 150 miles to visit my daughter, the drive would take about 3 hours and involves some of the busiest routes in England. I also needed to be able to manage my symptoms to make the journey and visit manageable, being in a strange place with people I didn't know and going into a busy city.

On Thursday 14 July, I did it and I stayed 2 nights.

I cannot describe how wonderful it felt. I was well prepared mentally, I had essential lemon oil in my car freshener, I had sweets (fruit Sherbets and mint crumbles) on the seat beside me, I had my toll money at the ready and I had some fave music on my iPod.

I was so relaxed and calm and the journey was a dream. At the half way point I did a body scan and even though I felt fine, I decided to stop off for a coffee. The journey took me just over 3 hours and after a coffee with my daughter, I then drove us to a designer retail mall.

I kept hugging my daughter, it was so unbelieveable to be there. We had a wonderful girlie night with her two flatmates. Wine, pizza, cake and Harry Potter.

On Friday, we went into York (on the bus) and met Amethist for coffee and shopping (yes, more shopping :D). The funny thing was when Amethist and I described what we were wearing (so we would recognise one another) we were both in grey trousers and purple tops. It was so nice to meet, we trawled the market and bought some nice things. Amethist gave me a beautiful clear quartz bracelet to wear on my left wrist whilst driving, thank you Amethist. I bought my birthday present from my husband (OK, I know it isn't my b'day until next month), a chinese elm bonsai tree. Then more coffee and then time to go.

My daughter and I went for a meal on Friday night and again I coped well, although I was beginning to feel mentally tired. The meal was good and we talked so much. The taxi home was a bit triggering and I had to reach for her hand. The driver thought he was a formula one driver and was driving so fast - yuck.

Saturday saw me making the return drive. The bracelet from Amethist worked its magic and I was even more relaxed driving home. Again I stopped off for coffee to break the journey. I was very tired when I arrived home. H sent me to bed for a nap. He had supper all ready and I didn't have to do anything.

Today he allowed me to stay in bed until 1.30pm as he said I obviously needed the rest. I feel blessed to have him and everyone who has supported me. T even phoned me on Friday to make sure I was fine and if I needed to talk.

I can do it, distance is now not a problem, I just need to relax and take frequent stops. In my mind I also know I can do it. I just need to breathe and remember my grounding techniques.

I am now planning my next trip - when I have saved up again, until then it is just as well we like baked potato, cheese and beans:eek:.

Just had to reply to this before I disappear again. Well done Kp massive achievement and it's all down to your hard work and sheer determination. You should be incredibly proud of how far you have come. The journey of a 150 miles begins with one small step and you have taken lots of them to get you to your goal. Hold that moment whenever the going gets tough.

I have Been thinking of you and wondering how you got on, so pleased it went so well.

Hi KP

It was wonderful to meet you on Friday, along with your daughter. Who would have thought we would both be wearing the same colours.

I have to say you have a wonderful sense of humour, and know just how to break the ice when meeting someone new. Especially on street corners :roflmao:.

You were so relaxed and chatty, with a wonderful smile too.

You are one amazing and friendly lady, I am so pleased to have met up with you. Maybe next time we can do lunch, after all that's what ladies do isn't it. ;)
