Experiences With Zoloft?

So I started Zoloft on Thursday. Thursday and Friday were very, very shitty days. Yesterday was good but unproductive and today has been pretty good. Today I doubled the dose to 50mg, as per the doc's instructions.

What are your experiences with it? Wonder drug? Just another zombifying SSRI? How is it helping with your symptoms, if at all?

I did take them for a shot time. They didn't help me at all with the depression so the Dr.tried me on MANY others and had the same outcome. So I am not taking anything at the present time.

I am on 100mg of Zoloft. I am less depressed but have no real drive towards anything. On top of that I am not sure I like the person on the meds. I promised myself I would not go back off for a while so I am sticking it out.

Of the five thousand other meds I've tried, Zoloft is the only one I've been on longer than 6 months. For me, it has had the least amount of side effects. I'm currently on 150mg and has done wonders with my anxiety and it has done OK with my depression. I really have lost a lot of drive (like Nighthawlk said) but that outweighs how I was feeling before being on it... take some, lose some.

Sandra,

I know. I'm just looking for general experiences with the drug, not a "what can I expect tomorrow?" kind of thing.

Zoloft is the only med which has had zero side effects for me. It also works for me at a ridiculously small dose- I took myself back down again after going up to where the doc first wanted me to go because of that whole zoned thing. Oh- wait-the ONE thing it tends to do for like the first few weeks is for some reason songs get stuck in my head! NO idea why but it's annoying! :) That seems to go away after awhile.

I had an awful experience on zoloft and never will I give it another try, was only on few weeks and had get off it. For me I had lots side effects and felt generally unwell I was on more of a rollercoaster than had Been before went on it. We all react differently I hope your experience is much better.

i tried zoloft (a generic brand) and i had a severe reaction to it within the first 4 days so i stopped. my dr prescribed me something new called viibryd... not sure how i will take to it since i didn't quite take to the others as well as i hoped. i'm not sure if viibryd will do anything for PTSD though. So we'll see. I start taking it tomorrow.

Hey alleycat,

My experience of Zoloft was ghastly. It zombied me out for 6mos, I was literally in a hazy fog. I didn't pay any bills, or fines, or stick to many appointments, I slept and slept. It also made me extremely hungry. I've also since found out that Zoloft apparently increases one's desire for alcohol - except when you drink, the effects are pronounced & hit you like a stream train.

I went off it b/c of the freaky effects & took nothing. A few years later, a different doc put me on Lexapro which has helped tremendously with sadness in ways that Zoloft just couldn't do. I hope this helps :)
