News Dr. Murray Guilty For Manslaughter Of Michael Jackson

Sadly, I don't even find that shocking at all. It's just becoming so common now in the U.S. to commit a horrendous crime and practically get away with it.

A few years ago a close friend of mine almost lost her sister in a car accident. The sister was 16 at the time and was riding in the car with her boyfriend who was 18 and three of their friends. The boyfriend was driving and unfortunately he had been drinking. I'm not sure how it happened but somehow he swerved, lost control and flipped the vehicle. All three of the friends in the backseat died that night. They were all under 18 too. Three young lives lost due to one bad decision. I find the saddest part of the story is that the driver only got 3 years in jail. Only one year served for each life lost. How are people supposed to learn their lesson if they don't get punished for doing wrong?

I would like to add too that I also don't believe that serving the rest of his life in prison would've done any good either, but I think something like mandatory visits for the next 10 years to local high schools and juvenile centers to talk about the dangers of drunk driving would've been acceptable.

Now one can see why it's so important to deal with only one Dr. and only one pharmacy.

I had to go to a different pharmacy a while ago since mine didn't carry this anti biotic the skin specialist wanted me on. But I told that pharmacist all the meds I take. Then I found out the price of the meds and didn't get them. I just about flipped when he said they would be $800 for 10 tablets. I do have insurance but that doesn't mean they will be covered. Plus I have to pay for meds upfront then submit the papers then get the money back. And I didn't have that kind of money to spare at the time.

I (unfortuantely) live in Los Angeles - "Hell Angeles" as I term it. My state of California is broke in everything, so if Lindsay Lohan only serves 5 hours instead of 30 days, Murray won't serve the entire sentence either.

My take on it is it's a shame this man was convicted at all. Michael Jackson was a drug addict. Period. He caused his own death. Yes, this man may have helped it along by perscribing the drugs, but the only thing that seperates MJ and someone in the back alley who's a drug addict was that MJ could afford to be a druggie legally.

The man had world wide notarity, but he was damaged from the onset as a small boy. His family are a bunch of disgusting individuals. They didn't care about him, he was their fast ticket - w/o him we wouldn't know one of their faces - pre and post surgery (except Janet, who was the only other one who had talent). So now they wanted someone to fry for MJ's death, knowing it was the end to their fortune.

Trust me, this is nothing new in the land of misery and pathetic hype that I live in daily. Hollywood land is a sham, and exists only for overblown egos by people who search for ways to profit on each other no matter the cost.

Army Brat-I agree. The doc was sure out of line but I think MJ would have died sooner or later as he would have got the stuff with or without the doc. I dont think it was the docs intention for MJ to die-incredibly stupid.

Sandra that is terrible-who can afford this stuff.

Loloma-I agree they need psychiatric help. I am amazed at how little time this particular county gives criminals for similiar convictions. It is very sad-these children get little if any help.

Everyone in life dies sooner or later. If someone has a hand in making a person die sooner rather than later, then they should be held accountable.

I don't think anyone has really claimed it was his intention. That would be why he was convicted of involuntary manslaughter.

catjudo I get that. I guess I just am not all that concerned about how much time he serves as in many ways, his life as he knows it is over. It wont bring MJ back. Not real sure how I feel about it. I was a MJ fan, it is tragic that he died at such a young age. I agree that dr should be accountable, I guess the question is, is he a danger to others? I dont think he will cause this again. Prisons are pretty full and the cost to keep prisoners is considerable. All considered, I dont think he will spend a long time there.
