Yeah I'm thinking this book said 12-18 months. Especially when you consider an anniversary date is in there somewhere.

The psychiatric field is creating employment and justification for itself in many aspects... constantly confusing normal post reactions for most life events with labelling people.

Read the stuff they label kids with now, just for being kids. Kids are erratic at the best of times, they're hyperactive, they don't concentrate on much at all... their brains are constantly developing, yet mental health professionals love applying labels to them, telling them there is so much wrong with them just being a kid.

Mental health has lost control...

i've never thought that pts and ptsd means two different things... Ive just left out the d now and then for some odd reason. Not seen the program, can't right now, but there are traumas that are terrible there and then and ends up as sad memories, and there's stuff that slams you right off your feet years later. again and again and again.

My breakthrough book - when I got my diagnosis of PTSD and didn't quite believe it was - Judith Lewis Herman's 1992 book Trauma and Recovery. Then I read Babbette Rothschild's The Body Remembers. It is good to read to understand yourself and what has happened. Understanding helps immensely with therapy and healing.

Every diagnosis becomes an ICD-10 code or DRG. In other words, if you name something as a diagnosis and attempt treatment, you can bill for it. Every diagnosis is another dollar in the primary care pocket. Taking out a gallbladder is taking out a gallbladder: it doesn't matter why or what you call it.

Come up with a new psychiatric diagnosis and everyone who does mental health care can bill for it - that is a huge lobby - GPs, FPs, IMs, PhD, NPs, LSWs, etc.

Just a little side line here. In the original posting you are not sure if the Professor is from England. It is much better to say he is from Britain. The Scotts, Welsh and Irish are understandably upset to be referred to as English or being from England. This Professor has an Irish accent, but works in Nottingham, in England, in Britain. So he is from Britain, not necessarily British. (All very tricky if you're not from her, and if you are, well it's still tricky as the approach differs depending which side of which border you are) When in doubt say Britain and you're less likely to have an angry Scott shouting at you. Good luck with that everyone:)

While I can understand your sensitivities to this matter, your post serves no purpose to this conversation other than to be unnecessarily critical of Grama-Herc. She said she thought he was from England. In the video, they only identify him as working in Nottingham. Nottingham is in England. It was a fair statement on Herc's part based on the information given in the news video. No need to be critical.

I am not meaning to be critical. This is emphasized with the smiley. I am making a serious point. If you're not from Britain how are you supposed to know this guy has an Irish accent. I have an English accent and lived in West Scotland for 5 years. We were sworn at regularly. I was frequently scared. Hostility against the English is alive and kicking.

My thoughts were to help people know about this situation, and to reduce the occasions when people inadvertantly cause offense. The offense caused by the BBC and the newspapers is expressed in the bullying in the playgounds.

So your point is that people should be able to listen and discern a person's heritage based on their accent? At the risk of making myself sound critical, one cannot make assumptions about a person based purely on their accent. I personally know people whose accent absolutely, 100% does NOT reflect where they are actually from or the country with which they affiliate themself. It seems your method would have more potential for inadvertently offending someone. Your method is based on assumptions. Grama Herc made a statement based on actual provided information (the news piece stated the professor was from Nottingham). While I quite realize that only means that is where the professor was currently working and did not necessarily refer to his birthplace or where he originated from...nowhere in this thread did anyone imply otherwise.

My point, in case you missed it, was that this is off-topic and not what this thread is about. This merely distracts from rather than contributing to the topic which was being discussed. :)

I am sorry, I don't seem to make myself clear here: My point is that it is easier to use the word British when you might first think of saying English. historical problems here are still played out with violence. I have a house in Scotland I am too scared to return to. I am Scottish/English with an English accent. Whenever I see an opportunity to help people not add fuel to the situation I will take it. So if in doubt (I responded to the question mark in the original posting) say British rather than English.

Hi Oberons wife

Please now keep this thread on topic as already requested by catjudo in her last reply to you. You have made your point now, so please leave it at that.

Further off topic posts will now be deleted.

I agreed with a lot of what he said, but couldn't watch the whole thing just because I found him to be super annoying!
