Hello all,

I am U.S. Army veteran and I am currently doing research at my university on PTSD.

I wanted to know if I could get an anonymous survey done with your help? I will be collecting data off of the survey in order to fulfill my hypothesis and conclusion. If anyone is interested in helping please reply back.

Depending on the number of hits, I will post the link to the survey. Thank you so much for your service and God Bless you all!

I would need to know a lot more about the proposal before I could say yes or know.

And I am not sure research is conducted to fulfil the hypothesis and conclusions? Surely you are testing your hypothesis before drawing conclusions?

More info please!

I am attending George Mason University and I chose PTSD because one of my battle buddies suffers from PTSD. I apologize that I did not clearly state the purpose of my research. Pale Warrior, I will not fulfil conclusions without testing my hypothesis, you are correct. What I am doing is, " Would psychological therapy rather than prescription drugs benefit the veteran and his family?" I am researching different treatment options and I realize that prescription drugs are helpful for treatment but that it could ultimately start a drug dependency and worsen the affects of your current symptoms, such as my combat veteran colleague. This research study will be focused on dealing with possible treatment options, prevention and the effects of PTSD on the combat veterans and his family. Please do not bash on me for choosing this topic because I am willing to research this topic. God Bless you all!

I am currently a Junior and yes I have researched PTSD. I tried contacting Dewitt Army Hospital but was turned down and referenced to the Defence Centers of Excellence for Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury. I received resources from them as well as using my school library database.

I'm thinking you might wish to investigate treatment types more. Anthony here has a whole slew of them on various articles. That way when you ask if psych treatment alone helps more than medication alone, you're not just leaving it wide open to our imaginations, you're asking more specific treatment types.

Also, I was asking your year because I'm a senior at my university in Albany, NY. I'm going for a Biology degree but psych studies are interesting too

Also, I hope you realize no one's bashing you. You ask questions, others ask questions of you... no bashing that I can see.

The survey is not only for combat veterans Pale Warrior. The questions asked in the survey applies to non combat veterans as well.

I mentioned this to someone else earlier today, have you read around "collaborative research" practice?

I am doing my masters in the field of disability and some very good work is being generated where the subject group are involved with the design and implementation.

I just filled in someone else's questionaire and it was so obvious that they hadn't seen life from the sufferers perspective. It wasn't bad, but it failed to offer relevant options that someone with PTSD (me) needed.

Let me have a think about your offer.

EloiseLandau I understand, thanks I will look into it. I am focusing on getting a survey done so I can get an idea of what people experience. As for treatment options I meant therapy sessions where you learn to control and deal with your symptoms rather than result to taking a prescription drug to temporarily relieve it.
