You Know You Have PTSD When...

....when you feel proud of yourself for staying out of bed more than four hours a day.
....when you let your kids sit on your lap out of guilt instead of love.
....when you are in the hospital and call 911 because no one will listen to you.

omg, this is sooo funny and true it hurts! :p:roflmao::giggle::)

This whole thread is a blast to read! I needed a good giggle.

Crazytrain, I lived in California for 14 years before I moved to Europe. I have been here 14 years and I will probably be here the rest of my life. I will never like or get used to this!!!

I heard a good one from my Pastor the other day, which I had never heard before.
He said basically the most common version of psychotherapy is "I'm okay, you're okay", but God's version is more like "I'm not okay, you're not okay, but that's okay". I like that version much better! It puts things in perspective for me; doesn't make it much easier to handle crap that I am feeling at any particular moment, but it helps me get by nonetheless!

I've always wanted to see Europe; I have relatives in Germany and Switzerland. I am not totally sure if I could handle it right now, but hopefully someday I will make it (with my wife, at least...maybe the kids, too!)

You know you have PTSD when people start using the Lion King to try to avoid your anxiety.

(Grandad had a brain tumour, instead of someone just telling me he was going to die, my teacher decided to allude to "The Circle of Life.")

(When I was panicking once, my mother started to recite "Hakuna Matata, what a wonderful phrase, Hakuna Matata, ain't no passin' craze. It means no worries for the rest of your days." Then I sang "It's our problem free philosophy Hakuna Matata.")

It worked- 'cause I'm so Musical Theatre crazy.
