The Hunger Games Trilogy

OK, finished it all, I'm going to have to think about it for awhile, is that the ending I wanted?? Why did I care so much which way it would go?

They say things happen the way they are supposed to... but we spend so much time living in doubt.

Everything's going to be OK - Real?

I hear you ericaboo. I finished book 2 this morning and in my mind I have the story worked out how I want it to end. But doesn't everthing in life always end differently than we expected or wanted? It is similar to those books I read as a teenager where every couple chapters you got to pick the next part of the story line. We want it so badly to go in the direction that gives us comfort (a fairytale ending), but most things that happen take us outside of our comfort zone. This is a good thing (most of the time) but still unnerving.

I will start book 3 tonight and I am kind of reluctant to start it, as I desperately want good things for Peeta, Katniss, and Gale, and their families, but I know there is tragedy ahead...

Well, here's where I chime in, all ready and rearing to get started on this trilogy this morning. I've just finished the Millennium books and need to take, oh, about half an hour, to rest and recharge, before starting again.

Have heard great things about the HG series, so expectations are high. As with Mellennium, it was my T who bombastically demanded that I read them, as he has been doing so for the past couple of weeks and admits to gross dereliction of duty as a result.

I didn't see the movie while it was showing here in Aus, and make a point of never doing movie before book anyway, and by the sounds of the last few posts I've just read here, I might have made a good choice.

I take you enjoyed the Millennium books then? I'm looking for some books to read this weekend, but I will be disappointed if I waste my time on something that isn't engrossing. I need something to lose myself in, at least for a little while.

I am almost finished with the 3rd book, mabe I will finish it tonight. It has been relaxing for me to read this series before I go to bed, I am tired by the story, I am afraid how it will end. Bloody story. I never expected so much violence. I hope it will be ok.

Shell, absolutely agree with Anthony. I haven't read the Fifty Shades series, but Millennium is nothing if not engrossing and will keep you stimulated and captivated all the way through. And I know you'll spy right down to all that lies beneath in terms of the characterisation, some very meaningful subtleties there.

Argh! I don't know why I can't get past the grammar! I've never been a stickler on grammar before! Actually, think this is kind of funny how I can't seem to read a young adult novel and just kick back and enjoy the story.. :D

I just finished reading the 3rd book and the ending was not what I expected. After going through all of that I felt let down and dissappointed, It was interesting reading the books. I was glad to have them as a distraction, I will have a hard time finding something so interesting to read now. very different books, I have never read anything like them. I was glad to be able to talk about it here.

Well, I've made a start on Hunger Games now, am a few chapters in. Wow, what a hauntingly eerie storyline and context, quite unlike anything I have ever read before, and captivating from the get-go. There is something so appalling about the concept that it is immediately intriguing and irresistible, loving it already.
