T: The roads were dreadful with ice, not a pleasant drive at all...
Me: Sorry to hear that. But anyway, how are you?
T: Oh, I'm fine thanks... hey, stop! What are you doing? No, I'm supposed to ask you how YOU are?
Me: Oh, and why is that?...


This was for real - the beginning of my last therapy session before Christmas.
I was like - 'gotcha!:p' !!!

Like I'm going to discuss this with them, and knowing that I have had suicidal thoughts since a small child, why don't they just figure out that of course I have a flipping plan.

Yup. To the "do you have a plan?" question I always think:

Yes, and I'm not about to tell you so you can thwart it.​

What I actually say is more along the lines of:

A plan? Moi? Never!​

That is funny in a dark humor sort of way, because that is exactly what I think when they ask!

I've heard this and I've always wanted to say, "what does that have to do with anything?".

NightHawlk, I feel I too failed at everything educationally. What good are smarts if you don't use them. I'm trying to teach my children that. Not easy knowing how I failed by not doing the exact thing I've encouraged them to do. Yesterday I admitted that to my youngest. It was a difficult confession.

Went to see one of my old T while mine was out of town.

M: I am more mentally ill than either you or I ever suspected.
T : says that was an unfair blow.
M: Really I don't think so wasn't it you that said I had dysthymia? I did not know that included phychotic episodes and flashbacks.
T: Head down in shame.... Ok I have to agree.

Me: So being this psychotic is actually NORMAL??? (wish I had said it, but would have gotten a mild look and a raised eyebrow.)

I've told my T she was wrong so many times, she's getting used to it! Of course she always ends up proving ME wrong...
