Over the past few months I have become increasingly frustrated at the pointlessness of the site and the arguments online. Not usually involving me (I'll get onto that) but irritating to constantly read none the less.
Wondering about other people's opinion on this: surely by posting anything on Facebook, you're opening yourself up to being ridiculed and dragged into an argument you'd rather avoid. So, why do people feel wronged when this happens? To be honest, I think the poster has asked for it.
Anyway, last night was the final straw. Lately, people seem to think that it's, I don't know, 'cool' or whatever they think it is, to 'like' and distribute photos of abused dogs, homeless people etc etc. Last night there was a picture of a little boy covered in bruises from being abused. Sorry, do not want to see that and I made a status saying as much, in the vain hope that the person who posted it would at the very least, realise that it's distasteful- well, downright sick. Is it just me that worries for that little boy? Yes the photo was to raise awareness, but he was too young to give permission of any sort, his parents were, I assume, in custody or something...so who decided they had the right to publicly distribute a photo of his appalling injuries? What will that little boy think when he's older, finding out that the abuse he suffered was plastered all over the internet, with thousands of people inanely clicking 'like' to make themselves feel better. It's a pointless and easy way of appearing to care about such matters as child abuse.
Donating to the NSPCC (UK based charity: National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children) or volunteering to help these victims seems much better to me...
Rant over, I feel so...'free' and unburdened by deleting my account!
