Apologies to those in the southern hemisphere who are heading in the opposite direction, but I've found the long hours of darkness difficult this winter. Maybe because I've been off work and it has felt like the day was ending at 4 o'clock.

Usually, I'm not so bothered by it. I don't suffer from and Seasonal Affective Disorder I prefer winter to summer. But the days getting longer is noticeable now, and it feels like a big relief.

Not sure why I'm posting, probably no-one will reply. But I thought I'd say it because it feels like a big thing to me and I wondered if it does to anyone else?

Hashi,

I do suffer from a mild case of Seasonal Affective Disorder and the cold and the dark just seem to feel like a weight. I LOVE longer days and warmer weather. Makes me feel happier and just...more alive.

For me the increase in daylight is huge.

Actually, I have a feeling your get a lot more responses to this post than you thought. I am sure there are many who feel this way.

I absolutely feel the same relief like you do! Wintertime in a city can be very depressing; Fresh snowfall immediately turns from white to a dirty gray or even a black mass. And anyway everything is gray; The buildings, the streets, the heavy loaded sky. - I really hate it to leave my cozy flat when it is still dark, cold and muddy. :bawling:

Even since I'm off for work I don't like winters darkness at all. I spend a lot of money buying tea lights (about 1000 pieces during the dark season), and lots of big candles too. Nope I'm no pyromaniac :whistling: but I really, really adore the light, and my soul needs it like my lung needs air!

But now springtime is softly knocking on our doors.... The sweet sunbeams wake up the birds and they start hesitantly to sing their lovely songs. I can hear the purl of the rivulet. And smiling will be a little bit more easier from this time on...

Yahoo! I agree with you Hashi. Some times we just take the changes for grant it. I am really psyched too! It is so dreary here for so long that I have to take Vitamin D3 2000 daily to keep my numbers normal. I feel so much better in the spring and summer due to the sunshine and longer daylight hours. Yet I would not change a thing cause I love fall and winter also. I just wish they were shorter in time.

Hugs to everyone who suffers seasonal disorder.

I only realy noticed the darker months affecting me about 2 years ago. Maybe old age  maybe all to do with the Depression and PTSD, but either way, at least I notice it these days and understand what is happening.

I do exactly the same thing Sweet darlin`. Loads of Candles and an open fire realy do fuel the soul.

I hate when it gets so dark so early. I feel like the day should be over, I'm even ready to go to bed. I'd like it to be somewhere in between, light wise, like it is starting to be. It is hard for me when the light is way late in the day. I also dislike the gray days and welcome the sunshine during the day.
