Thankful That The Daylight Hours Are Getting Longer

I wonder why we can't just have daylight savings year round? What is the point of shortening the light in the evening during the shortest days of the year?

Oh yeah.....that would cut out the pharmaceutical companies from increasing their sales for Seasonal Affective Disorder! :oops:

The hours and days are no longer or shorter at any time of year... 60 minutes to the hour, 24 hours to a day. The amount of light or darkness in any 24 hour period isn't changed by what our clocks say. You cannot 'save' daylight.

I too do not understand why we cannot leave the clocks alone, and if some people want to get up and go to work earlier or later then it is up to them. I have heard in the past arguments about children going to school in the dark - but so what? If they wait until daylight here then, in the winter, they will be walking home in the dark afterwards. You cannot have it both ways!

British Summer Time started this morning. Perhaps it will now stop snowing?

British Summer Time started this morning. Perhaps it will now stop snowing?

Well, I don't know about that. We do call it "British Summer" Time, and you know what British Summers can be like.

It use to make sense for the farmers many moons ago but not now.

My kids go to school in the dark. Nice for the lighter hours, but that was started before the whole daylight savings change.

I wonder if daylight savings year through would help with the SAD?

I wish daylight savings would be all year round. I love it. It makes the day longer. Each day in the evening it stays light a little longer. I just love it.

But it doesn't. The day is still the same. Changing the clocks does not make the sun shine any brighter!
