Starting Seroquel (quetiapine)--what Dosage Do Others Take?

I take 600mg of the extended release as part of my mood stabilizing medication for bipolar II. I am zombified for most of the morning. I even talk to people on the phone who call me when I'm in bed and have no recollection of it. Give it a few months to kick in fully and if it doesn't help you can always ask for a new medication.

I take 25mg as needed. I use to take around 200mg at bedtime, but I couldn't stand how I felt the next day. Now I just take the smaller dose when I feel anxious. Seems to help.

I'm on 1500mg at night, it lets me sleep for around 4 hours. I have been on this dose for close to 10years and it really has helped. Every time I'm admitted to hospital the drs get a bit anxious at my dose but I guess different people need different doses

I take 50mg at night, and in a few days it will be upped to 50mgs at night and 25mg in the morning, then the dose will continue to rise till I'm on 400-600mg a day

I'm on 100mg/ night. It has been a wonder drug for me and stopped hyper vigilance, flashbacks and nightmares ;) I was on 150, supposed to be going up to 200, but my body couldn't tolerate it. I was way too sedated. But now, 18 months ish after starting it, I'm building up a tolerance to it so it may need to be increased again... Will discuss with psych when I see him

My other half is on 200mg (Quetiapine) in the evening. I was interested to read that a lot of you take much smaller doses, but multiple times a day. This has never been discussed or offered, just one dose in the evening.

He has now been effectively dismissed by his community care team and psychiatrist (we're in the UK) and told that he should discuss with his GP what level of medication he feels he should be taking!?

At my worst I took 900mg per day, plus solian, and an antidepressant in high doses. I took about half of it at night and the rest throughout the day to control crippling anxiety, panic attacks etc. without it, I didn't sleep. On it, I would have strange nightmares if I tried to sleep/nap during the day, but slept through the night. After many years I have slowly weaned down to just 50mg at night. I have been hospitalised 11times and had 5 or 6 serious suicide attempts. I'm certain without seroquel and my therapist I'd be dead. It's hard to start but the drowsiness is not as big a problem on higher doses, strangely.

I agree, I seemed to need a high dose too, when people I knew were practically comatose on 25mg!

I was just on seroquel for a few weeks. The first few days I was on 50 mg, then 150mg, then 300mg. I've honestly never had a drug knock me out like seroquel. I'd take it at 7pm, but asleep by 8pm and if not for an alarm, be able to sleep for 14 hours straight. The sleep helped, but I will say the rapid weight gain and increased appetite made me stop. I gained nearly 20lbs in 3 weeks! Not that I'm concerned about my weight, but it was scary.
