Question About Posts Going Off Topic

I tried to post this in the "about the forum" section, because I think it might belong more in there, but apparently I don't have permission to create a new thread in there? Anyways, I have a question about posting off topic in a thread. I know generally we aren't supposed to do it. But what about if you are doing it in a thread that you started yourself? For example, my thread about nightmares has gone way off topic but it was my own doing really. Am I still supposed to be trying to avoid that though? Thanks.

Yes, we should all "try" and avoid taking a thread off topic, even our own. We all do it, yes; though we must try to recognise our act and change our own course of action by creating a new thread and reference the existing one that created the thought, etc. If any member wants their thread split because they feel it has gone off topic, by their doing or another's, just PM me and I will process it.

Well, seeing as the topic of this thread is "Going Off Topic," by going off topic we are actually staying on topic, if that makes sense.

But since we are staying on topic, then aren't we not staying with the topic of this thread? In which case then we actually are staying on topic?

Evie, from reading your posts it is evident that you are far, far from stupid. What I read from you is eloquent, insightful, and rather brave. I found this thread to be a very considerate effort on your part.
