Hypovigilence?

That image does help because my dog has very powerful expressions of total boredom.

Are you maybe just exhausted or tired of running? I wonder if this jelly-fish dog state, which is normal for tired or relaxed humans, feel unsafe or really hypovigilant if your set-point is just so much higher. (not sure if I'm saying this in a way that makes sense). The bored dog doesn't move because he actually processed the sound and knew it was "meh..". When I'm hyper-alert, I more have to check everything anyway. Maybe it's that you are tired but also some part of you is able to process stimuli a little differently vs all shifting right into reaction? I don't know, but yes I imagine the dog example as being different from the dissociation stuff (that would be more like a dog staring and looking through everything, not reacting to being poked or pet).

<grin> @shimmerz I am a cat-dog. Or maybe a bitchy-cat? Hmmm...

It's a single scenario. "Yes I see you & no I don't care" + anger/irritation. No matter how I was feeling before it's boredom+irritation.

When I trained away my startle reflex from bangs near my head, they got no response, anymore. (They do now, but there's no point training them away. I had to redo it every time it wasn't enforced regularly). This is a definite flooding response. It's just... a Weird one. It feels like it's waiting.

Lol. Now I'm going to have to experiment. Get someone on board to startle me twice or thrice in a row. See if I lunge for them on the second one or do something else. Gee. I wonder why I don't have many friends right now? Hey... Poke me and see if I go for your throat. What? Whaddya mean no??? :P

This is a creepy feeling. I know this in a different kind of way. It's like it is lurking....ready to jump out of me at the most inopportune time.

LOL LOL LOL. I wonder if you created a new post looking for volunteers..... how many would apply for the position? :roflmao::woot::wideeyed:

Possible. I think I've been pretty depressed this year. <chuckling> Maybe my startle reflex is depressed? That's just hilarious. Might explain the over reactions, too... If it keeps trying to rev up, and failing, so it tries harder? Until it's a massive overreaction? (Hmm...Is anthropomorphizing a reflex wrong?)

I'm depressed and have a hard time admitting it to myself because I feel like I do so well accomplishing stuff and being friendly. Well no, you couldn't pay me a dollar to smile these days.
