ANY relationship has wear and tear after a year....especially when both people are suffering from disorders. It's good that you realize you rely on him too heavily. Realizing it means you are aware of yourself and can try to stop that behavior. Your statement about love is not necessarily...
Alright, well I'm glad she got a diagnosis.
IMO you need to be A LOT more understanding.
You sending her angry text messages simply because she forgot to call you is a little ridiculous.
Just my opinion.
Alright.
I'm going to try to say all of this as nicely as possible.
You don't know that she has PTSD or Alexithymia. You don't know that she's manipulating you by denying feelings.
You are making all sorts of ASSUMPTIONS.
If she does in fact have PTSD, you need to be WAY more understanding. If...
Welcome, Kimmikins!
This is an awesome resource that I hope helps you.
I am also a suporter, as we are called here.
Head down to the supporter section and you'll find lots of people in your shoes.
Best wishes,
Murphy
welcome.
My fiance is an vet as well.
I know you don't want to, but you should REALLY consider seeking treatment.
You are lucky in that you will receive free treatment through the military...
If you're worried about your commanding officers finding out, you could go to a doctor off post that...
Hey Liam.
First, welcome to the forum.
I am a suporter on this site, but i also struggle with self harming behaviors.
I have thoughts similar to yours almost everyday. "what if I just ran off the road...What if I just pulled in front of that truck...no one would ever know it was on purpose..."...
Welcome to the forum.
Unfortunately, PTSD is a life long disorder. There is no cure.
With proper treatment though, it is manageable.
Are you seeing a therapist? Are you taking any meds?
Sadly, most college professors won't do that. I get it though. Better to be blatantly honest sometimes. If there's is no chance I could pass, I'd like to know.
I have a friend that is currently still enlisted.
She has PTSD not from combat, but from being raped by a fellow soldier while in Afghanistan.
I've been trying to get her to come here, because she feels at ease around people that are/were in the military.
Would she be welcome here even though...
That's okay.
I justbwasnt sure if you meant you think it caused it or just triggered you.
IMHO from what you've shared, it seems like his behaviors are what triggered you, not necessarily his mental illness.
My fiancé was diagnoses with BPD a couple years after his PTSD diagnosis.
I definitely see it as being part of his PTSD..
I notice it everyday...even if it's just a little bit...it's always there.
Anthony (and other moderators) monitor this forum very well.
If people are using the chat "inappropriately" I think it will be stopped.
And if you feel uncomfortable...don't use it?
Hey Sprint.
Welcome to the forum. I'm so glad you are getting treatment.
In response to your question: YES. You most definitely have a leg to stand on. Some people NEVER recover enough to be able to work period, let alone work a stressful job.
Best of luck to you!
MJ
Awful, huh?
D was diagnoses while still in the Marine Corps.
When his contract was up they wanted him the re-up his contract even with his PTSD.
Ridiculous.
