I sincerely hope those who participated in the Kris Kringle this year enjoyed themselves.

I am sorry for those who are still awaiting their gifts. My thoughts - the sending has to occur no later than the 1st November.

I would like to evaluate if would you do it again. Please vote.

What I think is important to evaluate in future participation is 'Trust' (giving someone your name and address), the ability to participate and send your gifts so they arrive on time for the forum Christmas Party and of course, affordability (we have to be realistic).

If you didn't participate this year, you can vote if you feel that watching what transpired has enticed you to participate in future if the opportunity arose or if the opposite occurred and you wouldn't want to participate.

Please don't post 'No' if you are anti Christmas etc as that is not fair towards the intent and spirit of the event.

Thank you.

I thought it was great, and so long as I can afford it, I will participate again.

It's just exciting to receive a gift from an unknown forum friend, from somewhere else in the world. I also really enjoyed choosing a gift for someone. And then hearing that they like it - that brings a big smile to my face.

It seems that all gifts sent and received were done so with a lot of thought, and caring.

I think you have started something great, Nicolette.

Is it possible to research a time that would be acceptable for everyone!
Today was the first year and it had a few bumps as it was not initially planned for the present opening to occur with the Forum Christmas party. Once decided however there was a pole posted [DLMURL]https://www.ptsdforum.org/c/threads/2012-online-chat-kris-kringle-opening-closes-12th-november.28798/[/DLMURL].

We can't please everyone and the further you get into December the more commitments people have so it would be basically during the last weekend of November/first of December depending on how dates fall based on votes.

postage is the only other factor which can get expensive

Luckily I was able to buy my gifts in the country that was their destination and that did help a lot with postage costs.

I have so enjoyed being part of this, even if I haven't opened my gifts yet :angelic:. The fun everyone seems to have had and for many taking that huge trust step.

I will most definitely be up for it again next year.

Poor Nicolette, are you sure about this? It may be one of those ideas you think back on and say it was a good idea at the time;). But seriously, thank you for all your hard work

Therapy Ball response: Less Guilt, More Smiles :)

Don't get me wrong, I was very happy with the exchange. I don't know what can be done to thwart customs. Am I right in thinking that at least 2 of those not receiving gifts were from the same country? Any idea if ANY gifts got through to that country? I may be wrong but I don't think there are big member numbers there. Just saying we cut them out next year.

KIDDING :devilish:

Seriously, those sending gifts there next time would maybe benefit from more awareness of potential problems with that specific country.

Second thing is that I do totally get the trust thing. I wish there was a way for my recipient to have the option of communicating with me. Again, this is totally from my non-PTSD brain but in the other forum I did this, the same 2 exchanged and I emailed a couple times, exchanged pleasantries and likes. Even gift suggestions and I was able to find something I thought was special for them. Perhaps, for those that want to push for a little growth, there could be an option.

NOTHING is meant to be critical. I would do it again with everything exactly the same. Thank you so much for your work and worries on this Nicolette, and to Amethist for the party planning!

I am thinking about this as a couple have wanted to thank their sender.... :geek:

I hate to see more work added to the exchange, but I do think that it has to be voluntary, of course. If someone wants to participate but just cannot bring themself to allow their identity revealed then, at least in my mind, it stops there. No one should be forced. Of course if there is ANY place on this earth that someone can trust those around them, then that place is THIS place.

Thank you very much Nicolette and Amethist for all of your hard work in putting this together. It was so much fun and I enjoyed myself alot. It was so much fun getting a present and sending it to a person in a different country. I look forward to taking part again next year.
