Ruthlessness frightens me-when does the right for elderly people to choose to die become the obligation to die and get the hell out of the way?

No matter how hard, you are so absolutely doing the right thing to stand up for your parents. Your siblings forgot: it is your parent's lives and their money, and they have the right to spend every last dime of it as they see fit to continue to live however they desire.

Don't discount how hard this is on you, these are people you love and watching them come to the end of their life is hard enough without all the BS and drama created by family members. Too bad they don't realize the example they set will greatly influence their own children when they deal with them at the end of their lives. Selfishness breeds selfishness.
