I am not bothered by your qualifications.
If you truly had the experience of being the victim behind a long running legal battle or Court case you would not be trying to convince anyone that it means so little or is easy or trifling or whatever. It's just not.
^No of course it's a 'massive deal' @Atticus but you are seeking a legal remedy when I think you want another kind of remedy or at least both? Not sure if that's truly achievable.
^No.. they don't. But you are not agreeing with much anyway so no bother.
^Believe me, there would be very few members on this forum where some kind of tort or another was not committed against them.
You are not alone.

Am I the only one who thinks this is a massive deal?

Do these facts change the analysis?

^Absolutely spot on there @NicW - and it is so true. Atticus I'd recommend you think about that old saying and find a good lawyer to look at your case without the emotion. There some old catchphrase about the lawyer who has himself as the client... ;) ... and...
a tort was committed against me, and now I have to deal with a constellation of PTSD-symptoms.
