Its been around a year since I joined the forum and I'm almost at 1000 posts. Wow, what a year....I've learned so much about PTSD and I am sure there is much more to learn.

I did want to say thank you to all the PTSD sufferers here as you have taught me a lot about PTSD from just sharing your situations, topics and opinions. As for the carers, a big thank you for being there to talk about things which other people do not understand unless they have PTSD in their life.

In conclusion, I believe PTSD is an ugly and terrible illness but beneath it are beautiful people just trying to deal with their altered life due to trauma. Anthony and I are lucky as we interact very well and he does a great job of managing his PTSD. I have learnt to deal with his PTSD in a way which doesn't enable him but still provides him with plenty of love and support, so we live life with more ups than downs. Some of that is due to us and some of it is due to the community here and what it offers! Thanks to everyone.

Congrats on your 1 yr.....I had mine in May. I am glad that you are trying to learn about PTSD. Most people don't understand it, because it doesn't effect them directly.....

I know at times we can be hard to understand, and even bitchy too......It's hard to have it too, I guess hard to understand where we come from.

Thanks for trying to help and understand....

Great milestone, isn't it, Nicolette? Congrats on being here a year. And congrats on learning so much. Like Wendy said, most folks choose not to know because it just doesn't impact their lives. Some have their lives impacted and still choose not to know.

Hi Nicolette, and Congratulations :thumbs-up on your 1st year here!

IMHO, you always make wonderful contributions throughout, and thanks so much for all your effort, time and practicing patience with all of us. I'm so glad you joined and that life is good, with more ups then downs for you and Anthony.

Also, I like the way you stated what you have learned:

I have learnt to deal with his PTSD in a way which doesn't enable him but still provides him with plenty of love and support,

Very Well done!

Again, Congrat's and Take Care.

Hope

Hi Nic, congrats! I just want to thank you for all the helpful/supportive comments etc. You've really made a difference in the year you've been here. Take care.

Congratulations Nicolette....the forum is lucky to have you. Thank you for all of your positive encouragement.

Thank you Wendy, Lisa, Hope, RD and Pand! I appreciate your kind words and I do enjoy chatting to you all. By helping Anthony with moderating I don't seem to have much time left for chatting these days as the members keep growing

Hi Nicolette -

Congrats! You bring a very positive and thoughtful vibe to the forum. I enjoy watching you learn about PTSD and using that knowledge to help other carers. It's very commendable.

Best,
Rachel

I haven't been around very long Nicolette but I still have to say congrats on your year! I hope to make it as far as you. A year here with PTSD is a big thing I believe so keep up the awesome work:clap:
Hugs

Congratulations Nicolette, I think you have been a great asset to the forum. You've been understanding and patient with everyone considering the crap some of us put you through.

Your strength shows through when you can stick it out this long, even though I'm sure you have considered throwing your hands up in the air and saying "I'm done"

I admire your determination to continue to educate yourself for your partner and for the forum. It shows selflessness and good character to help those in need, and expect nothing in return.

Take care
Tammy
