Hello pals. I'm a few hours away from what I feel will be a failure of a mental exam from the Social Security Administration. I am amped up already, having just received my Statement of the Case a year and 3 months late, which shows nothing but blatant disregard for the obvious ailments I have. In plain english they admit I have several mental disabilities but that my report was uncredible and exaggerated.

I seen dead children, women, young men, all who were non combatants. They came through my gate, I had to see them because my job was to make positive there was no concealed explosives. After our own troops had thrown grenades into chow halls and such shit, we were under direct orders to not take chances and to be thorough. We were hammered with mortars at times multiple strikes. It was f*cking stressful and changed me forever, and I am not even going to go into the personal assault that has left me still to this day terrified of water. I am an agoraphobic wreck and I have to take 1500 mg of anti seizure medicine just to keep from being too aggressive, but as of late the anger is breaking through and I'm starting to slip.

I need a real solution. I honestly think I have been blacklisted by the system and I will never see resolution.

OK Brother, know this, the Social Security Administration will f*ck just about everyone, when putting in for Social Security
Disability. They did it to my wife, she worked as flight attendant for 38 years (plus other jobs before that) She got RA real bad, to the point that she felt she could no longer do her job as safety professional. We played the game with Social Security Disability on our own and she was turned down. It's what they do....

So I found her a very good lawyer that only does SS Disability. That is what you need to do when they turn you down, get good lawyer that only does SS Disability. Her lawyer was over 100 miles away, we did most of it on the computer/phone and some mail. It is somewhat of a waiting game, but that just gets you more $$$$ in the end. The lawyer calls and tells the wife that she has to go before an Administrative Law Judge in El Paso, TX. So we drive 100 miles one way and meet her lawyer for the first time. The wife and the lawyer go in before a lady law judge........come back out 20 mins later, the wife and her lawyer come out smiling. They got a bench decision on the spot in favor of the wife!!!! She won........Just so you know, her SS Disability claim goes back to the day she filed it, so she got some $$$$ for about 3+ years and medicare. The lawyer if he wins the case gets 25% of the claim, paid to him by SS, if he looses he gets nothing.......Just so you know, giving the lawyer 25% was a damn good deal, hell 30% would have been OK with us. With out the lawyer, the wife would have got nothing!!! End of story.....Other than that big fat deposit in to her bank account.....

Hey thanks J R. I just got home from the exam. It was less than a half hour long and he asked me little to nothing about my symptoms. He was familiar with my psych doctor, he asked what I filed the VA for, a whole bunch of general questions. He asked a whole bunch of the same questions I had just moments before had my wife fill out on a questionnaire. We never spoke of my symptoms. He asked what I did during the day, and I told him simply, I try to stay calm and not cause trouble, and avoid strange people. I do chores around my house and thats it. I don't know what to expect. We hardly covered anything at all so, if I get denied off of this than there is something seriously wrong, when the examiner doesnt even probe.

I filed and got the SSDI in 6 months. I was raging bad with PTSD and it just sailed through. I also have some leg injuries as well. The VA is a different story for me. They try to do any and everything to deny me anything.

Dealing with any Gov't bureaucracy is a set-up for frustration and worse. I've decided to deal with it like commuting. Expect the worst and try to cover all the points I can think of. Your generally dealing with many staffers along the way that can each mess-up and stone wall the process usually by their own incompetence but also by arrogance. They are paid to show up and do the minimum no matter what, with no incentive to do their best so most don't. They only want to get you out of their face as soon as possible so they can get back to being non-productive.

This system has literally driven thousands of already struggling vets to the brink of suicide. I can only suggest you get help, find advocates and others that have gone through each process and learn as much as you can beforehand. Sarg always suggests Hadit.com. For SSD Binder & Binder seems to find success. This forum & other vets' gruops help too since many have been there and fought the system. Best of luck!
