Is it just me or are there others out there that have been sucked in and literally robbed by their own adult children?

I personally have lost my entire savings nothing is left.
I turn 60 next month and my son who is 25 used manipulation intimidation extortion and raging entitlement to rob me of every dime that I had saved.

I'm freaking out I don't know what to do. Do I sell my house and move away? Do I go all out and get a order of protection against him for 2 years and free myself of this endless nightmare?

It's your turn you tell me what I'm supposed to do, even my shrink thinks moving may be the only answer.

I think you already know what you need to do.

The question you really need to be asking is. Are you ready to follow through with it?

Whatever you do, you need to remain firm. If you are ready to cut him off, then stick to your guns, don't fall for whatever bullshit he tries to feed you.

Good luck, hope it works out for you.

Yeah I have a son who caused so much trouble and heartache I spent my retirement to keep him out of jail. When he went to college I finally could breathe again. He knows I'm broke so he doesn't come around. I just have nothing in common with him and I moved to another state. He rarely visits and they are just him ignoring me or criticizing me. He is a bona fide narcissus. Free yourself. Enough is enough.

Monday I turned all his violence against me over to the POLICE DEPARTMENT and I have had the most peaceful 3 days in over 2 years.
I know I shouldn't look back because it brings on severe anxiety, but I wish that I would have been stronger a 1-1/2 years before I lost all my savings. But I know its never coming back and in therapy today we discussed this very point. To be able to move beyond what I have lost and to start working on the healing factors of the PTSD I have to allow the Police officer's to deal with him and I need to completely stop all of the exposure in dealing with him. This site is exactly what I need to heal, because I see others like me on here and I don't feel all alone anymore, THANKS TO ALL OF YOU :)

I am also 60 years old, but I did not have any children, which I have sometimes regretted, and sometimes not. I have seen others nearby where I live who have gotten robbed by their adult children, so please know that you are not alone. Yes, this website is definitely very helpful in so many ways, least of all is to save you money. To save money myself, I go to the local Senior Center, which provides lunches for 50 cents each day, and I also take the bus there, which is $1 (USA) per day. I think many towns in our country also have a Senior Center, so check your phone book, ask around, etc. and you will probably find your local Senior Center. My grandmother used to go to one in another town than this one, and my hubby also went to one too, so I assume that they exist in many towns around our country. You have nothing to lose by going there, and you may even find yourself some friends. I know that many folks who have PTSD don't like to be around others, but I find the Senior Center to be so friendly and safe, that I don't care about the fact that it is populated by many folks. So don't let anything stop you from going. If you find you don't like it after going every day for a week, then you can stop going, if you really cannot tolerate being among people. I was able to overcome my dislike of crowds and still go to our local Senior Center, now, almost a year later after my first attending it. So don't be bashful, OK?
