An Update On My Therapy Waiting Lists

Today has been a very busy day, for me and my waiting lists, as I heard back from three of them. The first one concerns the waiting list for the vocal clinic (stuttering), they e-mailed me, to announce my first appointment is February 6th, at 9:30 am, but I would need to be, at the hospital administration office, least 45 minutes early, to fill out registration form, to get their hospital card. Sadly, I had to decline this appointment slot, as I would spend over an hour travelling on transit, during the morning rush hour. And given my past experience, I will be a babbling wreck, from a panic attack, which I told them, in my replied email. So, I am back to the old waiting list, for this therapy.

Secondly, in this morning mail, I got reassigned to a new psychiatrist, concerning my request for anti-anxiety medication. Once again, my doctor's office has booked me, for an appointment that means travelling during the morning rush hour. Will be phoning my doctor’s office, asking for a later appointment, knowing I won't have to wait more than 3 weeks. Sigh.

Thirdly, I got an e-mail from the art therapy group that my nurse practitioner signed me, back in August. In two weeks’ time, on January 2nd, at 3:30 pm, I have my first meeting with the session co-ordinator, to find out, if the group is a proper fit for me, and I, for the group.

Will share future update on this, as I find out new information, with the forum.

Thanks for keeping us updated. I'm sorry you have to rearrange two of the appointments. I really hope the art therapy group works out for you.

Yeech. Good grief. Waiting is obnoxious. Just makes you want shout, "You're a doctor not the President!"

Good for you for taking care of yourself though and chosing to avoid a stressful situation. I know for me I always had a hard time telling the secretary or whoever made the appointments "Here's what works for me."

Something tells me the art therapy group will fit you very nicely. Keep your chin up!

Am trying to contact a friend, who lives closes to my doctor, so I can keep the pysch appointment for January 13th. If I hear "yes", I will phone my doctor's office to confirm it.

This afternoon, I had an introductry meeting with the co-ordinator of the art therapy group that lasted for an hour, in which, during the meeting, I was crying, stuttering and fought back an anxiety attack, as I talked about my past. And yes, read two of my poems, with her that I had just finished writing, today. It operates 4 days/week, with most session occurring in the afternoon, which is fine with me, given my sleep issue and trouble waking up, in the morning.

For the first two months or so, they like new people to start with 1 to 2 days, before evaluting them, how they are doing with the program. Myself, I have selected Fridays to start with, and using clay. Haven't really had any experience with clay, so this is pushing myself, outside of my comfort zone, which I need to do. Tomorrow is, my first session, will talk more about it, on Saturday.

Great job! I know it wasn't easy, but you did it. You talked. I'm glad you are giving this a try. Clay is wonderful to work with. I wish you the best!
