New Here
Hi everyone. I was googling PTSD today and stumbled on this site. Good to see that there are soldiers stepping forward to discuss this.

I've been serving in the Canadian Forces for just over 20 years now and 2 years ago I was dragged into the hospital by my wife and family. 2 weeks later is was diagnosed with PTSD, depression and adjustment disorder. At the moment I'm still serving in the military but I'm expecting to be released in the next 6-10 months.

I'm currently seeing a therapist 2 -3 times a month with little improvement.

I'm also dealing with Veterans Affairs Canada and finding it quite frustrating and confusing. I'm finding the stress of dealing with VA adding my issues.

Hey MyHeadHurts

Welcome to the forums. We have a number of Canadian vets here that will be able to give you some insights about your VA system. They seem to be the same where ever they are. It's never a quick and easy thing ever. Perhaps the hardest adjustment is that you have to look at that you're in for the long run.

There's a lot of good people and info here. We're all in the same boat.

Morning Head. VAC is slow, but in the end they do get to the point. It took almost a year for them to process my file. Are you going to the Base Shrinks or an OSI Clinic? Best to get as far away from the Base Medical System as possible. They like pointing out how over worked they are instead of actually trying to help. Where are you based out of? Have you found the OSSISS Center yet? They are a life saver. All thier staff are Ex Military who have been diagnosed for PTSD. They've already been through this and know the shortcuts.

Good morning mate. I think you are being polite to your respective VA. I think all VA's no matter what country your from are frustrating, confusing and add to our stress levels. Hope you get help here.

Belated welcome, Sir. Feel free to pull up a chair and join in. New perspectives welcome.

Btw this is a great site with some great people. Welcome.

Jenny, I did that many years ago. Very laid back job. Plus, you work all to yourself most of the time.

Good luck with it.
