Since I got hit I have had reoccuring back issues. Finally got to see a secialist last week. I've got nerve damage going down my left leg, which is causing a condition called drop foot. I need specialty foot wear and a brace that pulls up on the foot. It's not a subtle thing. You'll be able to spot it from a mile away. I know one of the big issues with PTSD is that it's an invisable injury, no one can see it. Having said that, I'm not sure I'm ready to move into the ranks of people with a visable handicap.
To top that all off, DVA will only pay for the brace, not the foot wear. My costs for foot wear is about to sky rocket, putting further strain on my family. I can understand that foot wear is a clothing expence, but if you need really expensive foot wear because of your injuries, couldn't they at least pay the differance in price? Any Canucks out there ever have to deal with getting compensation for expenses that are not on the scale of care?
