Anxiety Attacks From Watching News Media

Is anyone else out there getting anxiety and or panic attacks from watching the news this past week? I want to stay informed but feel completely freaked out by the news. I feel so awful for the citizens of Japan and now watching a war unravel in Libya. I look on with disbelief.

Absolutely. I don't watch or read the news, but people keep posting stuff on Facebook. Been really struggling with anxiety/depression as a result this week. Unplug the TV!

I try never to watch the news or read the news papers. I know this keeps me in a fantasy land but sometimes that's were I need to be for a while until I can regroup and take on reality again.

Bad things happen to people and the news programs seem to concentrate solely on that. I try to avoid it as much as possible. If I didn't, it would definitely get me down or make me anxious.

Yeah, I am very stressed about Libya. I have two cousins in the Marines, both combat vets of Iraq and Afghanistan. I, personally, do not think we should be involved because the situation is so unclear. Whom are we supporting exactly? What are their goals? No one has any idea but we dumped a bunch of Hellfire missiles today.

They say that we will not send ground troops but I'm just hearing "blah blah blah". They will do whatever the hell they want.

My understanding is that the UN is trying to stop genocide which is the whole reason why the UN was formed after WW2. I agree about the president being full of it about not sending infantry. I can't believe I voted for him. The entire reason I voted for him was to end the war in Iraq and the first thing he did was send 20,000 more troops. I still am confused as to why he won the nobel peace prize at the same time. Also thought he would be in support of environmental issues but he didn't seem to take much action in the massive oil spill (BP was one of his major campaign contributors). We need a good leader I don't really care what party just someone who will do what they say during the election. Dream on.....

I used to watch CNN all the time. I got so depressed just from watching the news. Now when I go into Yahoo to check my mail there are news headlines, and I see some of what's going on. However, with articles I could read what I wanted. That was alot more comfortable for me.

I don't know about everyone else, but it was alot easier for me to cope with the news when I was reading an article than having the drama of the TV pound it in to my brain. Almost everything I watch is by internet or DVD because the TV is so intrusive. Does that make sense?

I don't watch the news, except very rarely, and only if my housemate is watching it and i happen to be in the room. I will check on the Internet if it's something important, rather than be bombarded with sensationalist reporting and images of dead kids.

For me being happy has become a priority and I will hear about anything important through people at work or friends anyhow,so...what is loading myself up with neg stuff gonna do to save the people in japan or NZ or anywhere else in the world? Nothing.
