I took one Abilify pill ever, which also made me sleepy and sick.
It will do that for the first week. You may want to give it another shot.

Also, ask your doctor about wellbutrin (buproprion). It may not be right for you, as it's more effective for depression than anxiety - but it's worth considering. Because you are having sleepiness, you may be able to consider something like this.

Also, ask your doctor about Latuda. Latuda is a good drug with a very wide dosing range, and can be helpful for anxiety and depression even in low doses.

I have suicidal thoughts pretty regularly, no social life, withdrawn.
I'm sure you know this, but you'll need to be in therapy and, if you're not working on trauma, then working on the withdrawn/isolating behavior. If you depression isn't only fallout from PTSD, you'll need to essentially think of it as an additional problem (yay), and treat it concurrently. DBT can be really helpful for managing the emotional side of all that.

Thanks for this reply, but I don't think I can get through a whole week feeling like that.

My doctor said Welbutrin, since it is activating, might worsen anxiety.

Yeah, that's an issue there.

I'd recommend looking into latuda then. It's in the same zone as Abilify, but less negative side effects all around. Very few things aren't going to make you feel flu-like for a few days...

It took a while to get used to but has worked well for me . I take 2 75s a day along with several other things. I did have to up from 37.5 x 3' I'mI tried Latuda previously and nearly shot myself to death, literally. Sometimes it takes a few tries to get

right one I guess
Just my experience of course but Latuda had me loading my .38 for myself. Everyone is different but just be careful.

I felt like I was a dying for 4 days but I pushed through and I'm so glad I did. Effexor changed my life.

I've been taking it for years. However if I miss one dose I feel like I'm having an out of body experience. Floating head like a balloon, dizziness, coordination issues, etc. I look like a drunk toddler. That one side effects help me to remember to take it religiously and daily. I choke down a lot of pills every day and sometimes the thought of having to swallow one more pill makes me want to rip my head off. I take three large capsules of Effexor every day ( i'd kill not to have to take them but I probably kill myself if I didn't :banghead:)

But like I said it's worked for me. Please give it time to work. If it doesn't, and you will know better than anyone else if it will, do not stop taking it without letting your doctor know and most importantly without tapering down on the medication. I like it but it is well known to have severe side effects should one stop taking it immediately.

Good luck:shy:

I too tried Latuda and tried to shoot myself. I don't know, now, what the kind set and reasoning was but I was definitely intending to take my life. This was about a year ago. I take 37.5 Effexor 3x, Buspar 15 3x, klonopin 1 mg 3x along with lunesta and a muscle relaxer ( can't recall names @ the moment). But are bumping up to Effexor 75x2 seeing if 3x might be in the future along with bumping up klonopin. Anywat.... Point beibg:Lunesta tried to lure me to beat a bullet. I'd advise families of new takers to be vigilant as my husband was. He saved my life.

Effexor save me too. But I have pervasive, lifelong MDD (major depressive disorder) and had it prior to my trauma and diagnosis of PTSD. But everyone is different. I tap out on drugs really easy (Lexapro for example worked great for me for a year and a half and then it felt like it stopped working overnight) so I've had years of trying to find the right medication.
One thing I will advise is if you've been on this drug for longer than a couple, three weeks do not stop taking it without tapering down and with the assistance of your prescribing doctor. If I miss one dosage, just one, I look and feel like a drunk toddler. It motivates me not to miss or refuse to take my medication (refuse-which I do because occasionally, like most of us I imagine, get sick of having to choke down so many pills every day).

Regardless of what you end up taking hang in there.

I took one of these pills, and it put me to sleep and hurt my stomach for two days. Anyone have experience with it?[/QUOT...
I took it once after my Mom passed away & it made me feel awful & made my anxiety much worse. I was told the side effects go away after a while if you keep taking it, but I couldn't tolerate it.
