I have a few songs that I just love hearing and almost never fail to brighten my mood:

Firework by Katy Perry:
Has a really good message, I think. Very positive :)
You don't have to feel like a waste of space
You're original, cannot be replaced
If you only knew what the future holds
After a hurricane comes a rainbow

Maybe you're reason why all the doors are closed
So you could open one that leads you to the perfect road
Like a lightning bolt, your heart will blow
And when it's time, you'll know

You just gotta ignite the light
And let it shine
Just own the night
Like the Fourth of July

Cause baby you're a firework
Come on show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh!"
As you shoot across the sky-y-y
Baby you're a firework

Come on let your colors burst
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh!"
You're gonna leave 'em all in awe-awe-awe"
Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
It's always been inside of you, you, you
And now it's time to let it through

I Gotta Feeling by Black Eyed Peas:
Just a fun song :)
I gotta feeling that tonight’s gonna be a good night
That tonight’s gonna be a good night
That tonight’s gonna be a good good night (x3)
Tonight’s the night night
Let’s live it up
I got my money
Let’s spend it up
Go out and smash it
Like Oh My God
Jump off that sofa
Let’s get get OFF
I know that we’ll have a ball
If we get down
And go out
And just loose it all
I feel stressed out
I wanna let it go
Lets go way out spaced out
And loosing all control
Fill up my cup
Mozoltov
Look at her dancing
Just take it off
Lets paint the town
We’ll shut it down
Let’s burn the roof
And then we’ll do it again
Don't Worry, Be Happy by Bobby McFerrin:
Seriously, who doesn't like this song? It's just so... happy! :)
In your life expect some trouble
But when you worry
You make it double
Don't worry, be happy......
Don't worry don't do it, be happy
Put a smile on your face
Don't bring everybody down like this
Don't worry, it will soon past
Whatever it is
Don't worry, be happy
Keep it Gay from The Producers (2005):
This just makes me laugh because it's funny and makes a Shakespeare joke (nerd) 8)
The theatre's so obsessed with dramas so depressed!
It's hard to sell a ticket on Broadway!
Shows should be more pretty, Shows should be more witty
Shows should be more... What's the word?
Gay?
Exactly.
No matter what you do on the stage, Keep it light, keep it bright, keep it gay!
Whether it's murder, mayhem or rage
Don't complain, it's a pain- Keep it gay!
People want laughter when they see a show,
The last thing they're after is a litany of woe!
A happy ending will pep up your play!
Oedipus won't bomb...
If he winds up with Mom!
Keep it gay, keep it gay, keep it gay!

Kung Fu Fighting by Carl Douglas:
Reminds me to keep my fists up and keep my silly on :D
Everybody was kung-fu fighting
Those cats were fast as lightning
In fact it was a little bit frightning
But they fought with expert timing

There was funky Billy Chin and little Sammy Chung
He said here comes the big boss, lets get it on
We took a bow and made a stand, started swinging with the hand
The sudden motion made me skip now we're into a brand knew trip
Razzle Dazzle from Chicago:
Reminds me to put my game face on (and makes me smile) when I'm feeling down
Give 'em the old razzle dazzle
Razzle dazzle them
Give 'em an act with lots of flash in it
and the reaction will be passionate
Give 'em the old hocus pocus
Bead and feather 'em
How can they see with sequins in their eyes?
What if your hinges all are rusting?
What if in fact... you're just disgusting?
Razzle dazzle them
And they'll never catch wise

I like a lot of these songs! Dave Matthews Band always takes me to a happy place. Soooo many songs, but my favorite is "Best of What's Around" because I love the lyrics (e.g., "turns out not where but who you're with that really matters......whatever tears at us, whatever holds us down, and if nothing can be done, we'll make the best of what's around" - or something close to that :)

Another by Cyndi Lauper is Time After Time. And my personal favorite....Freebird by Lynard Skynard. The full guitar riff just moves me.

I think that the perfect song for you, is RIVER FLOWS IN YOU by Yiruma... no lyrics, but the piano play is powerful enough to take away the pain. I used to listen to Marilyn Manson but I found a peace in this I can't explain... try it out and let me know. I'm a vet trying to hold onto my family the best I can, I listen to music to recover from particularly bad days. I know of others that are just as moving... song is embedded... enjoy...... Gunny

A couple 'light' songs that have a joyful, bouncy feel to them:
Pop Goes The World -- Men without Hats
Kiss Me -- Tin Tin

Actually, Men without Hats have lots of positive tunes. . .so if you like your music 80's style, they are worth a listen.

Some songs that I find positive lately, but you mileage may vary:
Working Class Hero -- Ozzy
F****** Perfect -- Pink
Various songs from The Eels
Comfortably Numb -- Pink Floyd
The Soundscapes music channel on Comcast Cable
Listening to some classic Gothic stuff from the 80's and 90's

I love this song by Olafur Arnalds called 3055. It's instrumental but it plays out like a story. It starts soft and sad and ends on this quick paced, hopeful tune full of life. In my mind I picture someone struggling and in misery, only to end up finding joy and conquering their pain.
