A type 2 diabetic is where the insulin receptors on the cells do not work well making the insulin bounce off. Insulin enables energy in the bloodstream to feed the cells. If the insulin isn't there, the cells starve as no insulin helps the energy get into the bloodstream.Insulin resistance is what the insulin bouncing off the cells is called.
This is opposed to Type 1 which an immunity disorder where the T cells attack the pancreas/ and insulin and there is an insulin deficit. When there is an insulin deficit, the energy can not get into the cells and a person will starve losing weight, or more likely go into a coma.
