I have noticed that since the new chat has been released that more people are wanting to get online and chat which is great.

The problem is getting other member's attention so I see members using this area to let others know they are wanting to chat. The only way to do this currently is to post a new thread or dig up an old one and add to it with the easier option being creating a new thread.

To avoid ending up with lots of threads of the same nature, I will make this thread a sticky in the Chit Chat area so that it will stay on top of the threads. If you are then wanting to chat then all you will need to do is post in this thread and it will come up under 'What's New' or darken as a new post for anyone who is online to see.

Your assistance in doing this would be appreciated thank you and I think it should serve its purpose in getting other members' attention when you feel like a chat.

Thought I'd just point out that you CAN see if someone is on chat without going in the room. On the main page, that says "articles" in the upper left corner. Then on the lower left margin you can see if anyone is in chat. They are listed.

In addition, if you are looking at the list and no one is there, and you move on, probably others are too. So sometimes I go in the room, tum my volume up a bit but then open another browser window to look at threads or even surf other sites. Then if someone comes into chat, I hear it and go back there. That's what happened last evening. Was in chat alone but eventually a few came in.

WHY do I think chat is important here? Sometimes just socialization with others that "get it". Sometimes to joke around and share our lives. That all stops as someone comes in that is needing to talk because of a hard time. Not therapy but a chance to be heard and others to show support. Also, chat gives you more of a chance to learn people's personalities and get to know them.

OK, just my opinion maybe, but although I think the forum areas that need to stay on topic are so very important but so is socialization.

thanks. I have not tried the chat here before, it actually took me a while to realise it is here, so this is helpful! Checking it out now.
