Regarding the psychic space of mothers in our heads...(an anecdote)
My cousin's mother was an alcoholic and an addict who basically deserted her and her brother as teens. My parents have occupied a pseudo-parental role for her, and she's like a sister to me.
Anyway, she has tentatively reconnected with her mother as an adult. One day, her mother was visiting, and she kept saying, "Hey, guess why your mother knows how to push all of your buttons? Hey, why can your mom always push your buttons?" Which my cousin endeavored to ignore.
Finally, she said, "I DON'T KNOW. Why, mom?!"
And her mother said, "Because she's the one who installed them."
^ Truth!

Hey everyone. I hope we all got through the holiday without any crazy drama.
In the end I used grey rock successfully for yet another year. My mother handed me the shirt and kept trying to prompt me to say something about it. But I didn't say a single word and just walked away, and the threw the shirt in the trash. Not a word mentioned about it since.

I know this is a bit older but I like how you handled that :)
Asking someone to wear a shirt so they can put it on their timeline seems rather weird anyway. Mother´s day is supposed to be a day where you voluntarily do things for your mother because she is nice (hopefully). Not where your mother expects you to pretend that all is great.
I usually ignore mothers day, just like fathers day, as just another attempt to make money off of people.
