Anyone Have Any Experience With Quetiapine (seroquel) For Anxiety?

my PDoc says it is used for many reasons today.
Absolutely right.... it's actually a shame that it is in a class of meds called "atypical antipsychotics", because people worry that they are going to be labelled. That is what seroquel was originally developed for, but it turned out to be useful for a number of conditions - people still shy away.

ETA: @lostforgottensoul , I am so glad that you've found it to be such a huge help! I would definitely choose that over daily benzodiazepines if I could.

I am not off of Xanax but I am down from three 1mg a day to three .5 mg a day and generally only take two, at night. It is super helpful as a longterm med to replace benzos for sure. And it helps in way more areas like the other roller coaster of emotions.

That sterotype is still alive and kicking. My step mom tried a quarter of a serquiel (so even if it was XR, it wasn't after it was cut) and thinks she knows all about it and any exhaustion or weird feeling I have in a day (I have MANY physical issues due to mental reasons) she blames the seriquel and calls it "hardcore". It can be but that isn't the case at 200mg. Not for me anyway. I feel more human then I ever have in my entire life!

Also, the show Homeland we are watching now (and yes, I know its a few years old but not that old) and on that show, the charactor Carrie is on an anti-psycotic (she has bipolar but before we knew that) it was "Carrie, that is an antipsycotic! Like OH MY f*ckING GOD! I screamed at the tv "Abilify is an anti-psycotic and they market that for depression and its a well known drug that people see as like it's an anti-depressant due to how it is marketed.

It is sad that so many mentally completely mark off a drug that could possibly help because of the class of that drug. And most know most drugs have multiple uses. Simply sad!

Dr put me on it for sleep once. OMG talk about sedation. Only 25mgs and I could not wake up!!!!! Ended...

Same here! Holy Cow, I missed a good year of morning time's because I couldn't wake up. So I'd lower my dosage more and more till I was finally grating a little of the pill with my teeth and even that tiny amount caused such drowsiness. I read somewhere that lower doses cause the most sleepiness but my shrink says that isn't the case. I don't know who to believe but I stopped taking it.

This is totally new for me. I have been only a week with 25mgrs, and my sleep has been of better quality. Only two days with 50, as my doctor asked me. Dizzy mornings/middays, and worse nightmares. I guess it is too soon . Need at last a month and I will be able to notice properly the effects.

Are you taking it for sleep or for daytime anxiety?
