Article Regarding Veteran Suicide Rates.

I was actually listening to a report last night citing suicide rates are the highest for those 60+ years old who just retired. The other news I heard is the highest risk period in general is the first 4wks of separating across the board. Sad stuff.
 
They have been hiding some of these statistics for years. When I got off active duty in 1990 there was a statistic about Navy Chiefs when they retired... average life expectancy.... 10 years. That means the retired enlisted were barely hitting 60 years of age at the time. Nothing was explained though. Just that they were worn out after 25 years of service.
 
I concur with the hiding it comment. The Services and The VA seem to employ a delay, deny, and waiting game to frustrate Vets, get them to walk away from proper claims and hope they die soon. It all means more of the limited $$$ for the military-industrial complex, new "toys" weapons systems, bigger stafffs (FT civ employees "Crats")...
