Atheist unite!!

I went though a stage of hating Christmas and its religion. I have now ( this year being the first) decided that I can enjoy Christmas and all the fun without having to pretend either to believe, or having to argue against it. I just make sure any cards I send are not religious. Other than that this year I went 'with the flow', and it was more relaxed and enjoyable.

Goobergus; the lesser known brother of Zeus, who grants wishes (those that he wishes to grant) with his magic pogo stick, and has the head of a golden retriever on the body of a komodo dragon.
He speaks English, with a Geordie accent from the north east of England, and is particularly partial to garlic bread and chocolate gateau.

I'm not sure I've really thought of a label for myself, on being atheist. I have a very logical, scientific brain, not very emotional at all. A lot of the trauma I've had started as a result of religion- I am the daughter of an ordained minister. When you are a pastor's child, you see the fakeness that others don't see..how we struggled to keep the facade of that perfect family together and it was just fake. Some of the worst treatment I've ever received was from christian people. And my brain just can't come to terms with a god who would punish someone forever for a mistake in a life that lasts not even a drop compared to eternity. And my list goes on. I guess on some level, I would like to have comfort that something great or wonderful waits for me after death, but I just have not seen any evidence to support that. So, I guess I'm in the right place.

I'm a Christian but just wanted to say I hear you on being burnt out with religion and I have had some experience with cults. Not good stuff at all. These were satanists though.
