Hey lostforgottensoul thats a relatable name ! Cults are vile to the core, ours was called the family (children of god in 60s), which one did you survive? All the cults state what they are not so you can be sure the generation of cult members who made up the COG, all those rapists molesters abuser nazis were children of demons and my generation which was born during The Family stage, most of us had no biological families to speak of, we were raised in dysfunction added to dysfunction. So yes it sucked am sure your cult did too thats really what they are created to do...suck everyones energy... and your empathy is hugely appreciated.

Its a breath of fresh air to find this site. One always has to seek out like minded people. I had googled "athiest cult specialist therapy" and one of the links was this myptsd forum. Sweet..

Am aware of cults existing rampantly in all aspects of society...every form of fanatic belief system which imposes their beliefs based on othering for real or imaginary benefit is a cult. The only thing religion serves is politics.. control and delude the emotions, control and delude the mind, easy psychological manipulation for power. Demeaning, backwards and redundant. Imo, intelligence nurtures and is nuanced, dysfunction represses. Most people are unaware of being stuck in sabotaging childhood trauma biofeedback loops....they have not truly hit rock bottom yet.

Just being here and now is lucid and accurate doesnt require any nonsense. So impossible to a child adult with unresolved abandonment/rejection or other attachment traumas.

I am also an ex cult member between my 30's and 40's. I have walked a long way since I left, but specific psicological treatment for people with cptsd from cult experiences is not easy to find. At least for me. There is a new book for children raised in cults by Janja Lalich, also there is a podcast ran by ex members of Children of God, really good.
My cult was an Eastern Meditation cult. They used hypnosis and the End of the World to manipulate us. I am atheist since I left.
 
By now I'm sure everyone has heard the news that Roe v. Wade will be repealed this summer, which will mean around 25-30 states will instantly ban any and all abortions, including for rape and incest victims in most of those states.

What's even worse about this is the way that the Supreme Court has couched its language. Basically the reason they're giving for overturning the old ruling is that abortion rights aren't anywhere in the Constitution. This will mean disaster, since most of our laws in this country aren't found anywhere in the Constitution and therefore will be subject to repeal as soon as a state passes a law against an old judicial ruling they don't like. It seems likely, for example, that Texas will pass a law banning gay marriage again, which would then be upheld by the Supreme Court. One of our troglodyte states like Mississippi could even ban oral sex or interracial marriages again, which the Court then would have no choice to uphold by their new Originalist rules.

Hello, chaos. And guess who stands to benefit most from these new Originalist rules? Religion, of course, and by religion I mean Christianity. Originalists don't believe in the traditional American value of the separation of Church and State, because the First Amendment's ban on Congress establishing a national religion isn't literal enough for them.

We did this to ourselves, obviously, and you can't put the fascist back into Trump Tower once he's infiltrated the Oval Office. I have to say that we deserve absolutely all of it. Our kids didn't vote for this, though, and they don't deserve it. But they're the ones who'll have to live with it.
 
I didn't know what CFI was so I looked it up and hey, that's what CSICOP is now! I loved reading Randi's and Gardner's books as a teen and young adult.

I'll give you one guess what the religion was of the person who tried to burn down the Satanic Temple headquarters in Salem, Massachusetts (with people inside) last week.
