General Backlash From Military Leadership...

New Here
Hi, this is the first time I have been on here but I need some serious advice. This is more geared towards any military folks. My husband has been diagnosed with PTSD, he is working with the doc and doing his homework and everything has been going okay. He is still very loving and great with me and the kids. Well, we are on a certain base that mandates that you have to be certified to work on. With his diagnosis he is disqualified, no biggie, ship us to a different base or let him retrain. That is the usual route in this situation. We have many friends that have PTSD and they are still functioning in the active duty arena.

To the point, this base wanted him for their inspectiont to ensure they got an excellent on it, they wanted his combat experience! Got that. Now, after all this...he gets called in yesterday and is told they are DNAing him (taking his gun); he still doesn't know why! All in all, per the Chief - "He should have kept his mouth shut" and pretty much trashing his career for nothing. His most prominent symptom is lack of sleep. He thinks about down range almost daily, but has it in check. He has been performing his duties, his immediate supervisor is outraged! Sorry, this is so long but I am just sitting here worrying for him and his career. Not knowing what they are going to pull is really hard! If anyone has had any experiance when the leadership tosses you out like trash due to PTSD let me know please! We are at a loss.

I am pretty sure his Dad is! We talked to him last night (a retired military member). He was livid.

Make sure you keep ALL the paperwork involved the any action the command takes, and write down ANY conversations you have with the command concerning your husband, don't forget time and date.

Talk with his Dad to make sure he is contacting his congressman.

This looks like your husband is being railroaded. The exact thing that "Army Policy" is against.

You might want to cross post in the sufferer section or even over at the combatPTSD site for more input...
