Bad Psychologist Report

((((Kath)))) I so understand your being upset by the psychologist's report, but I totally agree with what Lizio said.

I'm a bit suspiscious of psychologists working for insurance companies. Who pays them, where do their loyalties lie in the end?

One of my therapist's has told me on several occasions that he doesn't agree with "labels" and that those along with his descriptions are simple so that he can continue seeing me. Simply put, insurance companies require a "reason" for us to be going to therapy.

You have come so far and are doing so well. Of course the report is upsetting, but please try to remember where you were at one point, that you (like all of us) will have times when something like this report will throw you off balance and the REMEMBER how you have pulled yourself out of the pit and how you have done this so much faster than you ever would have in the past. You are wonderful, you are strong, you are persistent and you are victorious. Even if you can't see that right now, the rest of us have and you will see it again.

Love you so much.....many big, warm, tight hugs.

(((((((((((KP))))))))))) Would it be possible to have a second opinion with your own therapist regarding your report? I do not know how these things work, the thought just popped in! I am well aware the system is so broken as those that administer it. No, it is not everyone but there are far to many who only push the pencil as they see fit! I am so sorry you have been subjected to this. Lighting tons of candles, Whitney

I'm glad that you are seeing that the idiot got it all wrong... and you are blessed with your super H who is there for you all the time. I'm glad for the both of you.

Keep believing in yourself KP, one stupid twit paid by an insurance company to protect their interests cannot and will not screw your head up. (it takes a LOT more than that ;):D)

Treat his drivel with the contempt it deserves... :poop:

(((((KP)))))

I do hope you are feeling a little better today, and I'm so glad you didn't read the report before the meeting. Hate to know you are so upset, as others have said, it is one man's biased view. This man does not know you like we do and has produced this report for insurance purposes.

You know who you are, so don't loose sight of that fact. So many people including your own family have benefited from your generous and supportive nature and spirit. Stay strong and I hope your appetite for chocolate soon returns. I enjoyed meeting you and your H on Saturday and thank you for organising it.

KP sorry for being late in replying.

The people that knew you before your accident and the people who know you now are the ones to take notice of. They are the ones who know you best.

This guy, (who is supposed to be on your side), knows diddly squat about you, he does not know the person you were before and will never know who you have become. How the heck can he write a report of any kind after a 30 minute meeting.

Geez even my hubby got an hour with both parties for his claim, and loads of forms to fill out at home.

I would be banging on the solicitors door demanding to see someone who knew what he was talking about.

Keep fighting for what you know is right KP.

As my husband says, "Dont let the Bankers get you down" ;)

I am not sure who the psychologist works for, but the fact that he works for an insurance company, it is his job to mitigate damages. Bottom line, he is suppose to look a minimizing damages and I think a lot of the report will reflect that.

Keep fighting the good fight. Just remember, you are wonderful just as you are. It doesn't matter what the report says on a personal level. It is just a tool to keep the insurance company from paying out more dollars than they absolutely have to. You know the physical and psychological damage you suffered and how hard you have worked to recover. Don't let the report minimize your hard work. That belongs to you and you alone.

I don't believe everything in a report. I'm new here as well, so I don't know you that well yet! I know they wrote a psych eval on me and when they did they said I wouldn't be able to handle school or work full-time. They only wanted me to go part-time, financing isn't available for part-time students. I took a leap after being on disability for agoraphobia for the last 12 years. The doc was wrong because you know what, I'm doing well (only 1 panic attack), and have straight A's and B's. So the reports are only as good as the person writing them, and who says they have all the answers!!!:p

I cannot say thankyou enough times. Your support and encouragement is amazing.

H and I went through the report last night, line by line. One bottle of wine later it was done. There are some blatant omissions and from what I can remember from the interview, untruths.

Almost every page has something which we disagree with and even question the relevance. He recommends CBT counselling which obviously I am fine with as long as it is not with him. He also would like to re-evaluate me in 6 months - if this happens you can be sure H will be at my side the whole time.

Strangely, I felt better after reading it for myself. Yes, there were tears but mainly of frustration and anger. In this case anger is a positive emotion.

This is for all of you - thank you.
