Being Undiagnosed

I was diagnosed with ptsd with dissociative figures my question is will I have this diagnosis for life can someone be undiagnosed? If so how?

There is no "undiagnosis," unless you were given the wrong diagnosis in the first place.

There also is no cure.

So yes, you will have it for life. But, with therapy, coping skills, and sometimes meds, there is most definitely a way through.

Meaning that if you take care of yourself, you can have a "normal" life again. And that if you try and ignore it, it will come back to bite you in the arse.

I've seen other posts where people have been told that they no longer meet the diagnostic criteria for PTSD so I think that perhaps technically if you go into remission then you could possibly lose the label. But, in terms of actually losing the disorder for life, that's a different story as you could be re-triggered by something that isn't even considered "traumatic" and have your symptoms come back full blast. Are you more concerned with losing the label or with losing the disorder itself?

Well both, I was told to seek local federal and government recources to support my disabling condition, I'm not clear on what that means exactly it's written in my diagnostic report once I find out what it means and if I get "help" from them I don't want my condition to stay with my name permanently. Also I just don't want to experience what I've put my family and loved ones through I want anymore or what I've put myself through.
Does anyone know what it means to seek local Federal and government help?

Are you able to work? Do you have insurance?

The only thing really done on the federal level is SSDI which is referred to as "disability". Oh, unless they meant that you needed to sign up for insurance under the president's new plan.

Most other forms of aid are offered on a state or local level. If you don't qualify for SSDI you may be able to qualify for SSI. If you're looking for treatment, then there may be local treatment options available to you but that can vary from location to location.

At this point I wouldn't worry about the label sticking with you for life. Would you forego treatment just to not have that label? I don't see how the PTSD diagnosis would cause you problems in the future. Medical records are private so nobody can see them without your consent, and people aren't going to know unless you tell them. Can you say why you're so concerned about this label?
