FEC filings released Sunday provide an illustration of how dramatically the contributions of mega-donors eclipse those of normal citizens.

For example, billionaire George Soros gave $6 million to the pro-Hillary Clinton Super PAC Priorities USA last quarter. By comparison, the average donation to the Bernie Sanders campaign — the only one mostly funded through small donors — was $26.28, according to a spokesperson for the campaign.

That means Soros gave as much money as a small city’s worth of small donors — 222,000 people, slightly larger than the population of Des Moines.

The $3 million that pro-Israel billionaire power couple Haim and Cheryl Saban gave is equivalent to about 185,000 Sanders donations, or a bit more than the population of Boulder." ……………."

Interesting is that Saban bought controlling rights of "The Onion" WTF?

I'm on the fence. I'm a left libertarian (I know I know but I promise it's a real thing :p. Socially liberal, economically libertarian) so I'm at a loss. Bernie is way too big government for my liking and his plans will cost upwards of 14 trillion. Nothing is ever "free" so I'm concerned as to where he would get the money. I've done the math and taxing the 1% at 90% wouldn't get him anywhere close to that. Plus as someone who works in a small business coffee shop, there is no way we could afford to pay the employees $15 and hour and still make a livable profit and we are one of the more popular local shops in the area so I would worry for the future of my career and business. We would have to close down in minimum wage was upped that much.

I think he talks a good game but I just don't see his plans working out, especially with Republicans dominating the Senate and Congress.

Who knows. I honestly hate all of them. :p

Bernie is interesting. So was Eugene McCarthy. But the reality is, we have system of two powerful parties whose money will always bury a renegade. We are faced with world crisis, and cannot gamble again on a rational voice as we did with Obama. The Republican party has successfully paralyzed the Presidential branch of our government--as they openly, and treasonously, promised in Congress.

The Republicans have persisted in buying elections of even morons like Ronald Reagan and the Bushes. There is no reason not to believe they can do the same thing for a lunatic like Donald Trump.

As I see it, our only real hope lies in electing Hillary and as many Democrats as possible.

I love Bernie but it is becoming increasingly more difficult for him to get ahead or make up ground in the delegate count.

I am bewildered by those who say if Bernie doesn't get the nomination they will vote for Trump. Ok I get the anti-establishment bit, but is there any reason whatsoever beyond this as to why people would make the switch? (i.e. Hatred for Hillary.) I just don't understand going from supporting an ultra liberal socialist democrat to supporting a misogynistic, racist, hateful person like Trump. Somehow I'm thinking that their own hatred is clouding their judgment.

Not to derail, but WHY do people hate Hillary so much? (I think I know why, but just as nobody would admit that they hated Obama because he's black, nobody will admit to hating Hillary because she's a woman.) Gotta make up other reasons to hide the root of it all.

I can't agree more. The idiots who hate Hillary enough to switch parties I think are more than misogynists. They are fools in choosing a megalomaniac like Trump. To them, Hillary is not only a woman, she is an intelligent woman, despite the Republican smears that began with Bill Clinton. Personally, I think Bill was the most presidential person in the White House since Johnson. With him on Hillary's team, we have a chance of a return to functional government. Maybe Bernie could serve well as Vice President?
