LOL...the turkey vultures are one of my favorites. My favorite breeze surfers, for sure! The way they swoosh and glide and just enjoy the ride, makes me want to join them. Don't ever approach one and startle it, though. Their defense mechanism is to regurgitate and it's not pleasant, especially if it's a fly over and delayed release. That was my first introduction to them. It landed right on the rear view mirror of the truck I was a passenger in and my window was all the way down. So gross.
We have a lot of hawks, crows, cardinals, blue birds, robins, blue jays, red-winged black birds, starlings, mockingbirds, whippoorwills, fly catchers, sparrows, purple martins, gold finches, red finches, pileated woodpeckers, a couple other kinds of woodpeckers, blue herons, mourning doves (I talk to them with my Native American flute), and hummingbirds. I'm sure I'm leaving some out. I don't think I've ever seen an oriole. That would be so sweet! What a beautiful photo you captured, too! Nice! They're some of my favorite entertainment each day, for sure, along with the rest of the wild life.
