About a year ago I was asked to be on an advisory board for the city. I took it not really knowing if I could handle the meetings but decided I would try. TODAY our city liaison for the board asked me if I would consider being the board chairman.
Uh, say what now?

It means giving a presentation quarterly to the mayor and running our committee's meetings. It means being more visible which makes me REALLY uncomfortable.

The liaison wanted to meet at the coffee shop down the street to talk about all of this and I was struggling the whole time with trying to NOT have a panic attack. At the end, I broke down and blurted out that I had PTSD and that was what Charlie for and OH MY GOD could we please leave!? She was so surprised and kind about the whole thing. (my heart is still racing from all of this) Once we were outside and I managed to reign in the tears, I told her that was why I had Charlie and it was harder today because I didn't have him with me because he's still sick.

She was really awesome about the whole thing. She said, "Desi, why didn't you just tell me?! We never have to meet at that coffee house again. We can meet in my office." I looked at her funny and said "I've been trying for the last few years to cover this up and try to fool people into thinking I'm ok. This is what adults do!"

She laughed and said from now on, we just get the coffee (because it IS the best coffee house in town) and meet at her office about the committee. "That's not what adults do! I am here to make things easier for you, Desi" well shit.
:cry::bored:

I accepted the nomination. And then cried all the way back to work.

Yay?
