Body Under Attack

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced their body feeling like it's under attack from too much stimulation/stress? Is this a symptom of PTSD or something else? I have PTSD, but my therapist said that it's not a symptom of PTSD, it has more to do with my energy fields being imbalanced.

I get that, too. My psychiatrist and Ts have said it's from PTSD.

Only way I know to deal with it is to lie down in a dark room with no stimulation.

Hmm, but actually, on second thought, I remember my mother telling me I would get overstimulated as a baby and that's what she did for me. So maybe it's not PTSD. Maybe it's just being a highly sensitive person.

I get that a lot, its why the therapist I stuck with is a master TCM practitioner, accupressurist, and energy healer. He does both psychotherapy and energy work with me. I heal on every front now, and feel so much better!

My therapist wasn't saying "energy imbalance" was a diagnosis. She was just saying that that was the explanation for what I was experiencing, as opposed to a symptom of PTSD. She said reiki could help with it.

But, to me, it feels similar to hypervigilance, but in a different way. It's like sensory overload where if I pass by people on the street or there's a lot of loud noises (or someone is speaking to me loudly), then it literally feels like I'm under attack and I need to seek safety. I don't know, I'm having a hard time explaining it.

stress causes all sorts of things to happen to your body. and PTSD is a cause of stress. Increased heart rate, digestive tract problems, even stunted growth and incontinence are symptoms of stress, I guess an imbalance in your energy fields could be a problem too, why not?

after several high-stress events in quick succession I get to experience aches in my joints like arthritis and intestinal distress like I have been drinking water from horse troughs. That'll unsettle your energy fields, you better believe it.

It's important to make sure that you have a physical from your primary physician to make sure that you do not have a hormone imbalance, such as thyroid, etc. The symptoms overlap and can be very confusing.

I've been sick with stress.
I've had stress-related illness.
I've :banghead: can't win for losing. (Aka probably bad luck, but hey, if it weren't for bad luck I wouldn't have any luck at all).

I'm right there right now. Every time I start to get my body put back together, something just goes terribly wrong. Ended up in the ICU for a few weeks, on bed rest & hooked into machines for months. Start to get back to it. Had my body reject a piece of shrapnel it's been perfectly FINE with for 15+ years. Get it removed. Start back to it. Flipped over the handlebars of my bike and cracked 3 ribs. Let those f*ckers heal, and get back to it. Broke/Dislocated a bone in my foot. >.< Near as I can tell? In. My. Sleep. FFS BODY! Aaaaargh. Stop. Breaking. In working order. You. Now. :wtf: And that was just last spring to this fall. Stupid damn fall apart unsat motherf*cker, me.

Not sure what you mean by "under attack". I frequently have what I refer to as "Michael J Fox " episodes or as my husband calls it "foxin'out". I get electric-type jolts that begin on one side of my body and zig-zag up and down. Meds dont make any difference (soma or klonopin) nor does being relaxed or standing. My joints give out and I drop things or land on my knees. Is that the kind of attack you mean?
