Book Club Chit Chat Thread

I read this thread today and then checked for the Kindle Paperwhite. And found: it is not planned that they'll sell it on the German market. :( Also, you can't order them from Amazon US. :(

Sometimes on a train or so I see people with their Kindles and I've been wondering if they aren't too dark for me, especially at night in bed or so. But now I'll just go for the normal one. Oh well.

I was thrilled seeing that Paperwhite because I would not have ever had to remember to bring a clip-on light... Now I have to continue to use my brain...

(((((KP)))))

Well it seems there is a Kindle to suit everyone! I am good with a computer and use the Kindle same as you KP for it's light weight, and easy to use just pushing a couple of buttons.

Cath, I wouldn't want a singing and dancing Kindle either. :whistling:

I'm an old girl Anthony, not as technologically advanced as you and Nicolette. However I will look at the Amazon site and the Telstra big pond site for information. My middle son is a techno genius who works for a Malaysian company, writing programs for their telecommunication system. He works from home here in Perth. He keeps all my equipment running, upgrades computer etc for me. I think the intelligence missed a generation and past from my father to my son. Well them's the breaks eh!

Oh also Anthony I bought a HTC phone in Dubai which has about a zillion features on it. I have learnt to use about 10. Still haven't connected to the internet, it's there don't know how to use it. My granddaugher is teaching me how to use it. I just learnt how to put it on speaker phone duh!! :(

US price for a basic Kindle $69.

UK price for basic Kindle £69.
You can buy them for $89 from Amazon US: Dead Link Removed and shipped to the UK.

The ones that run branding, you referred to for $69, are only available for US residents as they run US based ads. Spend the extra $20 US and you get one for your country. Kindles are charged from a USB computer port... though you can normally buy your adapter within your country as well. They don't ship with them normally.

Also, you can't order them from Amazon US. :(
That is more than likely because they're currently on pre-order only, not yet released. Wait until they come out and you should be able to order them.

You can also purchase a US address for $7 a month, or discounted for a year, from someone like [DLMURL]https://account.myus.com/signup/step1.aspx[/DLMURL]

They forward your purchases to your actual address on your behalf.

Hi Everyone. I just joined this forum today so if there is a more convenient place to post this, let me know and I apologize, but can anyone recommend some good books for me to read on these topics:

1. Self Injury
2. Overcoming Social Phobias

3. I need a book on PTSD but I am not sure what would benefit me the most. I have a hard time with over-reacting and jumping to conclusions. I assume because something happened to me once, it's going to happen again...Like for instance, the guy I am in love with disappeared on me a few times in the past (I wrote a forum about it if interested) and if I don't hear from him right away I assume it's gonna happen again...I don't get THAT bad about it now, but it's still something I'd like to get managed better.

thanks in advance and I am so grateful I found this forum!
