It's good that he was able to communicate with you that he wasn't in a good place and didn't really feel like talking to anyone. Perhaps, as you say, this was a way of preparing you. Sometimes, people just drop off the radar - so it IS good that he had been communicative with you and let you know where he was emotionally at that point in time. I'm not sure why your friend would suggest he was in jail - it certainly isn't something that jumped to my mind, and clearly not yours either. I'd let that comment go through to the keeper, so to speak.

I can totally appreciate why you would be so very worried - I would be too. It really is hard to know what to do in these situations and I'd be sick with worry also.

I'm not sure I have any other real 'advice' as such, but hopefully at least talking about this is making you feel a little less alone at the moment?
