Can Anybody Smell There Abuser?

My abuser has been dead for 17 years. I keep getting dreams of where I can smell him or places that remind me of his smell. When I wake up I can still smell him during the day.
Has anybody else had this problem ?

I do get this. Not in dreams though. Some kind of flashback thing I think.

I get anxious due to cigarette smoke and also various other smells that somehow remind me of him... last night I had to close the window because of the smells outside. And sometimes I get flashbacks of his voice and smell out of blue. I think this isn't uncommon.

I most definitely get this too. Beer and cigarettes for me. It has a distinctive odor when combine with one another... Hang in there.

I used to be able to smell him and smells were a huge trigger but it seems to have gotten better. I'm not aware of it anymore at least.
