Rock hunting sounds fun. Mizzy will get the chicken ready. It will take a good couple of hrs-but fire roasted barbecue chicken is my favorite! You just need to let her know when you want to put it on to cook. She’ll leave it all put together ready for the fire and while I head off rock hunting.

Farine meant to have the chicken cooking soon so it would be done and then could be packed away. The smell of fire roasted barbeque chicken was indeed heavenly. Mizzy's actions seemed to be so coordinated and fast that this dish must have been made more than a few times in their household. And she didn't want Mizzy to miss any of the fun that others were having. As soon as Farine could discern it was suitable for her to take over to start cooking it.. rough cooking times provided and condition of removing it from heat established... that would enable Mizzy to head out and do whatever she wanted in the time remaining in the day.

Mia went on gabbing, “I doubt I’ll be that long rock hunting and hiking, and I should have time to get some fishing in on the way back.”

She also smiled from her station watching Mizzy work as Mia talked seriously about her time estimates of activity outdoors. Unless one was accustomed to it, it could take all your energy in a matter of an hour or two. It sounded though, like Mia had a good sense of her capacity. Farine loved to take a nap mid day and then go a little further into the evening hours. Sometimes paddling to reach a goal .. say a new camp site... meant just slogging through. It sounded like everyone was on point to have a great time. She relaxed. The reference to fishing.... Led to her turning her head to regard her partner.

He was starting to nod off despite all of his good intentions to stay awake while the guests were in camp. It seemed almost prophetic when he heard..
“Angelo you look like you are almost ready for a nap. If you are awake when I return, I’d be grateful to hear your hot tips on fishing. Sounds like fun, fresh water fishing. I’m well versed in saltwater fishing, and do well with freshwater catfish if-I’m using live bait, but lures aren’t my specialty-but I usually learn pretty quickly when it comes to things about the water.”

He stirred himself to full alertness.. a smile to cover the fact that he'd been almost asleep there for a moment.. "It's not rocket science. What'd I'd be teaching you is to follow the lanes fish tend to use from one period of time to another and why and where they go so when your bait, fresh or lure, drops in front of them they want to say, 'Bon appetit' .. and then we have them for dinner. " Turning to Farine.. he further stirred himself to gain his feet.. turn to unzip their tent door .. and lumber inside. WIthin minutes.. sounds of fitful sleeping could be heard just outside of their tent. Farine actually had to zip the tent door shut. He was that tired.

Mizzy put the chicken on not long after Her Mom had left.

Nia and Billie has a spectacular time. Nia asked Billie to help put some quartz in her backpack to carry back to Farine. The spot wasn’t far from the campsite, really. Nia took a rock for herself. She had a rock garden at home, a memory garden. She would take a small piece as a memory of this very special occasion. Her memory garden had all kinds of rocks and shells, that reminded her of special people, places, and occasions. The sun was perfect for taking pics, and their beauty glistened in the afternoon sunlight.

On the way back, another eagle appeared, seeming to lead the way back to camp. Nia knew inher heart the eagle was a protective guide in her life. Nature was such a big part of her life. It was a peaceful, uneventful trip. As they hiked, Nia’s mouth began to water as the thought of beef stroganoff and barbecued chicken entered her mind-and then, her stomach began to embarrassingly growl as they walked back to camp.

“Here we are, Farine, with the most beautiful ornaments. Here, help me off with my pack.
That was really worth the trip! I brought back a small momento for my own memory garden at home.”

“Did Mizzy get the chicken going? I’m famished, how about you? Doubt I’ll have time to fish before dinner, but I’d like to give it a try, time permitting. Angelo feeling better? I’m so excited-was just such a lovely, peaceful walk-and we were escorted back to camp by an eagle!”

She heard the group return about the time when the heroine realizes the hero is her best childhood friend in her book she packed in. Her expression has this dreamy, happy look that meshes well with Nia's announcement that they enjoyed her suggestion to go rock hunting. Setting the book down... she purposefully scuffled her feet... grinning because that abrasive sound would likely remind him of...
... Angelo stirred.. was that.. He listened a moment longer.. no.. that wasn't some wildlife in the camp... that.. was a woman... He had abruptly sat up.. he fell back on the cot. HOW OFTEN she loved to tease him in her own way... and now? He was probably not able to respond in kind. That sort of thing would be frowned on. But the group was back.. He got out of bed... and moving surely .. unzipped the tent door to greet what was either early evening or late afternoon. "How long was I out?" He asked Farine.
"Couple of hours... " She replied. .She was putting marshmallows on skewers for herself and Angelo.. a peace offering of sorts.
He snorted at that.. but still.. she had something on her mind.. He'd ferret that out later. The part of Nia's conversation that related to him took a moment of consideration...

To Nia's inquiry.. he responded. 'Yes, actually. I probably will be at full capacity tomorrow. And I'd prefer to be there when you fish.. so later favors my situation. " He smiled to show he was interested in showing her a few things. To her remark about the eagle sighting.. "There is a lot of interest in what the eagle was doing when you saw it. Was it flying.. hunting.. soaring?" He hoped she would give a few more details.

Farine watched Billie and her parents .. were they having fun? She was glad Nia and Mizzy were here.. they were definitely old hands at camping. She wanted Billie in particular to have a great time. If so, Billie might enjoy it for years to come.. She waited for an opportunity to ask her.

“Angelo, you can’t imagine the awesomeness I felt as the eagle flew with us, all the way to camp. I felt graced with its presence. It was a full grown eagle, so graceful in flight. You see-................well, this might sound weird to you, but nature holds a huge place all the way to the core of my soul. The eagle to me on this Earth is my spirit guide, and I believe it keeps me safe in my journeys. So, when I see one, it is spiritually meaningful. It’s been true in my life, when I’m needing to learn something or in real despair, eagle usually shows me what I need to learn to move on. I can’t explain it-it just is..... a different way of thinking I guess.
Eagles are just plain grounding to my soul...... enough of that.....now back to fishing.......

“Maybe we can hook up ( get it-a fish joke!!)”
Nia laughing a belly laugh at her wit! Oh no, it’s starting!
Ok, I have a fish joke for you! Why did the trout blush? Think on that one a bit-I have to stop-I can get going w jokes....I get too silly........On to plans for tomorrow’s fishing..

“Im looking forward to you showing me what you know about fishing in these parts. Mid morning-sounds good-I’d like to sleep in....Mizzy isn’t much on fishing, but I’ll ask her if she wants to take pics of us-maybe we’ll get lucky and catch a fish or two-she does love photography, too. Would be a fun pic!”

“Im going to roust up Mizzy and grab some grub. I’m starving! I’m going to be one with marshmallows here soon......too!”

Nia walked over to get Mizzy, and the two of them ate like they were at a gourmet buffet! Everything was delightful!

Everyone sat around the campfire.......the stars were crystal clear, and suddenly a shower of beautiful shooting stars appeared.

“Look, over there! Shooting stars!,” as Nia pointed in their direction. She ran to grab her camera. This was a Kodak moment!”

There was a whisper, the wind prevented the voice from being identified, "Does Angelo have a nickname?"

I thought I heard a faint voice, something about a name....was someone asking a question? I know it sounds weird.....
The trees are rustling in the wind and I’m so involved in the beauty of the evening I wasn’t paying attention to conversation.

"Does Angelo have a nickname?"
Angelo's background prompted him to investigate everything. Someone saying his name whom he could not identify as being part of their group gave him an instant jolt of energy. About that time he heard Nia say,
I thought I heard a faint voice, something about a name....was someone asking a question? I know it sounds weird.....
So it wasn't just his ears that heard it. Alright. He'd bite.. He'd reply. "Yes.. why yes I do. Care to join us ? "He had been in this region off and on over the years. There were some regulars who actually LIVED out here year round. They knew the bush so well, they could have easily moved around them and gotten into superb position. He began to think of those in the past that he'd actually met and spoken to. It didn't seem to match any of them.. It was unfair.. because while he had so desired to hear more about the eagle..
“Angelo, you can’t imagine the awesomeness I felt as the eagle flew with us, all the way to camp. I felt graced with its presence. It was a full grown eagle, so graceful in flight. ....
His mind was trying to sort out this mystery. He had enough presence of mind to nod at the right time.. His reply to Nia.. "So does that mean you were meant to meet up with us?" A head tilt added to the mystery of the eagle's involvement.

Meanwhile Farine was being a hostess.. around the antics of her guests..

The shooting stars were very much enjoyed.. "One of these days we'll have some inclement weather.. very few trips go solidly with great weather the whole time.. and then we'll have Nia's pictures to console us.. "

Angelo was zoomed in on both the eagle's presence and her interest in fishing..

He groaned appreciatively at the fish jokes. He'd have to supply some tomorrow.. right now.. he was still listening for another reply from the mystery guest. "10 am sounds lovely. The coffee will have made a complete circuit in my system by then. Nia, Is it alright if I 'knock' on your tent about that time ? And did you wish to fish on the shore? Or in teh canoe? Your choice. "

So it wasn't just his ears that heard it. Alright. He'd bite.. He'd reply. "Yes.. why yes I do. Care to join Is?"

Nia looked at Angelo and dropped her jaw, and he was looking all around and talking to......to everyone?......but no one? Everyone stared at him.

Nia said in a concerned tone,”Yes, why yes you do what? Angelo, are you okay? Is your fever back-that was a strange comment. You’re not making sense....”.

Nia was just getting to know Angelo. This was the first time she or any of them had to get to know him.....and he was behaving really, really strangely.
....
"So does that mean you were meant to meet up with us?

Nia didn’t know how to respond to Angelo-he seemed, “far away”- preoccupied but still semi involved in the conversation.

“Well, she said, “I believe things happen for a reason....” not wanting to get real deep and philosophical in the midst of his odd behavior. Maybe she had said too much about her beliefs.....the convo was feeling squirlley. Angelo kept looking around... it was time for a diversion.... she could feel it coming....tonight wasn’t the night for spooky stories.......that was out....she had to think of something..or he needed to explain......

"Farine was being a hostess.. around the antics of her guests..

"One of these days we'll have some inclement weather.. very few trips go solidly with great weather the whole trip.

Nia wished he hadn’t said that. Thinking like that is like the foreshadowing in a story.....
or bad luck....Nia was hoping for a totally serene trip without any more hitches. But bad things do come in threes— she tried hard to clear the negative thinking away.

"10 am sounds lovely. The coffee will have made a complete circuit in my system by then. Nia, Is it alright if I 'knock' on your tent about ten. And did you wish to fish on the shore? Or in teh canoe? Your choice. "[/QUOTE]

Yeah, as I think about it Angelo, I’ll meet you at the canoe at 10-I’ll be up and ready by then I’m quite sure. I think I’ll try fishing on the shore-we might try canoe fishing later in the trip.

Nia didn’t want him coming to her tent, and while she’d love to go canoe fishing, she didn’t think a canoe trip with him was a good idea right now in the wilderness....maybe he was relapsing....or maybe he was a nut.

@Changing4Best and @Farine,

Angelo, got up and started walking the perimeter of camp, peeking In through the trees. He said, “You can come out now!”....

Nia, seated next to Bill, leans in close and whispers....
“Whose he talking to? Bill, would you and your wife and Billie like to come fishing tomorrow and meet at 10 on the riverbank with Angelo and I. Mizzy hasn’t committed yet-she’s not a big fisherman.

Angelo’s acting a bit odd tonight, I’m totally baffled, and being a single woman and all in the wilderness....well you know.... we all came together at the last minute....,I’d appreciate your company, too. I hope he is feeling better tomorrow. This has me worried.

“Mom, stop whispering!” said Mizzy, in an irritated voice. .....”I hate when you do that!
I think it’s time for bed.” Mizzy got up, made her excuses for turning in, shook her head at the entire situation, and headed toward her tent.

“I’m thinking about turning in shortly, too. Angelo was so deep in his own world, he didn’t even respond.

Farine, Bill, Adele, and Billie-I think it’s about time to head to bed. I REALLY hope to see you for a fishing lesson tomorrow bright and early 10 am! Night all.

A chorus of “nights” were hurled, each at its own time, sounding like an echo in the still night.....as Nia wandered on over to her tent.

(@TruthSeeker I'd appreciate if you paused on makign choices for me. That you feel Angelo is coming unhinged .. was explained in emotes that Angelo feels there is someone who is real... and is about to reveal him or herself.. .we haven't heard from @bird_on_a_wire yet to explain their story choice. And at this point.. you've got me in a very very awkward position.. personally and in the story. I'm about to walk away. Because this is now triggering to me. This is a social thread meant to be fun.. and it's getting dark in themes. SO can we discuss out of the story line? Frankly, my feelings are hurt. )

Suddenly there's rustling in the bushes, everyone turns round and sees a girl climbing out of the trees. "hey. Im Chrissy I've been around here a while but I really prefer to travel alone. But i heard a bit of a disagreement. And just wanting to let y'all know I heard someone ask Angelo a question too". Then before anyone else in the group had a chance to ask any further questions about their new friend, she was off again rustling leaves as they went.
