The CQC* has published their inspection report into my local Mental Health provider Trust.

Overall they are rated Inadequate, the lowest possible rating.
In the separate domains they are Inadequate for Safety, and for Leadership, Requires Improvement for Effective Care and Responsive Care, and Good for Caring

I don't expect much will change, certainly not in the short term, but there is some reassurance in seeing that it isn't just me, and that It wasn't a case of me being so underserving that they withheld treatment and support.

*CQC = the UK independent health and adult social care regulator.

Doesn't surprise me in the slightest. I had some dealing with mine after my father's diagnosis of Alzheimer's. Total waste of time. Had to do everything myself. The whole system is verging on broken.

@stenni that is very good to read. I know it might not change things overnight, but given their complete lack of proper support and the resulting consequences of how badly they had treated you, this offers you the validation [I hope you understand what I mean, I'm finding that a bit difficult to put into words].

It is a shock how those who need the most mental health support are often not getting adequate care, even when they are asking/begging for help.

You deserved a lot better stenni. I hope things are improving for you.

Thank you @rainy_daze . I understand exactly what you mean. Stories are coming out the wood work now about how so many have been failed by the local services. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-31131369

So far as my situation - they are trying take away my support budget because I'm not using enough of it - because I'm only being offered one afternoon with an untrained worker, despite being assessed for 10 hours trained support, a course and a group.

BUT I finally get to start CBT next week. I only found this out because I chased them, but at least I know in time to get the support worker to practice the trip with me. (i used to drive around five counties alone, attending meetings and assessing others. Now I have to practice a bus journey to the next town. It can only get better)

I agree ^ it can only get better, and that is great news about starting CBT  good luck with it. It is good you have a clear goal of therapy already too. I look forward to the day you post to say the bus journey is easier [or that you are fine to drive. I'm not a driver, so I have many things I do to help with the anxiety of being on a bus].

I will read that article now, I haven't seen any news for a couple of days.

Is there anything else you could try to use the support budget for? Just a thought, as I don't know much about it. It doesn't make much sense for them to take it away because you aren't being offered enough to use it all up.

The hospital which I was inpatient at last year was apparently one of three put a list like you mention. This year - it was the only one out of the three that had taken no steps to improve themselves - after experiencing them first hand I could believe it. For me, learning of the hospitals dire performance helped me realise that it wasn't just me and helped me allow myself to feel the distress I had when I was with them - somewhat vindicating. I'm sorry you've been let down too by a service that should be there to support you however.
