Good afternoon, I am after some advice surrounding cbt therphy. I underwent emdr therphy at the beginning of the year for just over two months. I found the first 4-5 sessions and the second to last one very emotional and it pushed me to my limits and left me broken emotional at times in between the sessions.

I start cbt this week not had chance to talk to my councillor about it as it has all happened very fast, getting my appoitment through. I can't face putting myself through serve emotions again!

Has anyone else been through it? What should I expect? My main problem now is high anxiety which I am having trouble with especially in work were my incident happened.

Hi you will find it very emotional and it will take you back to the event!!! But stay strong it will get better. I too are having cbt one to one. It isn't what I expected but is helping. I have been told group therapy cbt is more intense. So I'd say it depends what your having. I only work part time and that is enough for me. Enough going on without having to work full time too. Are you on medication that will help whilst your having it? All the best :))

No I am not on medication do have some sleep tablets if and when I need them, however my doctor would prefer me not to be under medication at this time.
It's one to one I am having.

Yes that's what I have. From my own view if I wasn't on meds I wouldn't be able to do it without them at the moment. It just takes the edge off. Keep strong!!

I do mostly CBT and I do it without meds. My therapist says meds would help, but we're not pushing that for now. Some days are easier than others. We take things as they come and naturally come up. We focus on the trauma and the day-to-day. Lots of focus on developing strategies to help with anxiety and intrusive thoughts. That might helpful for you to help you with work.

Do you mean CBT for skill building or CBT for processing? I learned a lot of CBT for skill building, and it didn't put me into a bad place. I hated practicing the skills all the time, but it didn't spin me off into an episode or anything like that. I didn't do CBT for processing my trauma though.

I don't know, what cbt I am having I am guessing all will come clear this week in my appoitment
