Soooooooo, where does it start, the kind of moves that will cause changes that will make a difference? Or, is this the start?

In my country, the good old USA we've had a huge swing from far right to far left, but see continuation of the same old crap. Big money has the same strangle hold on government as it did in 2000. And, big money likes things just the way they are.

Are we so content with our cell phones, mini computers and big screen TVs that we can't get pissed off anymore? I'd love to find leadership I could believe in and support, and don't care if it's Matt Damon or Mickey Mouse.

Members of this site, me included, see our young Brothers and Sisters thrown into the same kind of meat grinders that leadership threw us into, and I'm proud of our efforts to do what we can to help each other. But, were treating the simptoms rather than the desease. I want to hold government responsible for the mess we're trying so hard to clean up.

Sorry if I got too political.

I think for a few decades now we've (society in general) been sleep-walking into Huxleys 'Brave New World'.
If you're not happy with things, you're viewed with suspicion.
If you can fend for yourself and do without what passes for 'popular culture', you're viewed with suspicion.
If you dare point out the Emperors new clothes, you're being offensive.
You know there are times when I genuinely do wonder if it's what I've been through that f#*ked me up, or what I came back to.

I just compare Tom Cruise the self centered sniveling short arsed wanker and Matt Damon. He has some very valid points.

For one, people are locked up for trivial crimes while the real crims go free

Tom Cruise is up his own arse and bonkers with it. People like Mark Wahlberg, Matt Damon and Ross Kemp actually bother their arses to find out the reality. Different planet.

I like hearing this from our younger generations. I heard a graduation speech the other day by a college grad and it inspired the hell out of me. Maybe it's living in a college town that brings out the inspired one's but it's damn fine to hear. There are certain things that get my goat about the way they want things (like access to the forests) but, they care about it, and vote for it

Yes, too many of them are electronic potatoes but there are that few....

And SD, I'd like to respectfully disagree that all politicians have moved to the left. If they'd all moved to the left, they'd all agree and pass law after law. My opinion is they have moved so far right and left, there's not a sane one in the bunch and no legislation gets passed (in some things, this might be a good thing). We need moderates. We need term limits. And we need every one of them to go on the ACA just to prove how good it is!

“The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don't do anything about it.” ― Albert Einstein

Guess I did a poor job of making my point. I was trying to say that both the far left and far right have done little or nothing to improve conditions world wide or domestically. What they've both done is allow big money to all but ruin the economy of much of the world while allowing a select few to make fortures.

I'd love to find a moderate who I could support.

I see more people unable to think for themselves and come across more people that are unable to communicate. People complain more now with social media, their iPhonePADPods, and 24hr news stations. Not many will stand up for injustice, help those in need, or think logically to fix the wrongs they've made

I've been completely disgusted by everything politically after I came back from war. I don't see anyone leading anymore. Just people bickering and getting nothing done, while everything goes to shit. This used to be an amazing place to live. Sadly, we haven't really had a great leader(s) in power for quite sometime. I'm not holding my breath as I saw the "change" that people voted for the last two elections.

CG, good to see you again by the way, I'm beginning to understand that nothing will get done in this country until WE take it back. I'm not talking revolution, I'm talking getting off the recliners and voting the old out and the new in. I vote every time something comes up. I just voted in a school bond election and I don't even have children.

When I see voter turnout less than 20%, it only points out why this country is in the shitter. If 80% of the people are O.K. with the bilge that's coming out of D.C., it's no wonder we're in such trouble. And these days, if you register to vote they send a paid return postage ballot to our house!

If 60% of the people in this country voted regularly, Washington would start worrying.

As it is now, the folks with the most money, rule this country. This country isn't supposed to be ruled.

CG, good to see you again by the way

Thanks.

I'm sad to say that I didn't cast my first vote until last year at 31 years old. I had the mindset that regardless of how I voted, I would end up being screwed somehow. However, it could be that one vote that changes it all. Especially with the smaller issues. There's so many city and state things that no one votes on, except those same folks year after year.

Another thing is we have so few veteran's left in major political positions. IMO, if we had more, we wouldn't have seen issues like we did last month with WW II veteran's having to pull down barriers to see their own memorials. We have thousands of delayed claims at the VA and the highest ever suicide rate among military members past and present. And no one stepping up to do anything.

It's actually shocking staying on top of these politically. Which maybe part of the reason my acid reflux has increase the last couple of months. lol

I'm certainly voting out representatives people who vote against things that would actually better the local community and country. I would hope the same from others. Doesn't take too much time to read up on the issue before you cast that ballot in the ballot box.
