Had a great service today... this was a song we sang... "City on the hill" is the Church ....

"I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace." ~ Ephesians 4:1-3

I want to make a prayer list for all of you. What would you like me to pray for, for you?

The topical one that I might request is getting on similar list with other people's understanding of Christianity. I'm still not there / the verses are still read in the context of how groups I was with read them, and I'm still not able to switch to understanding of how a lot other Christians understand them.

Hence sticking to Islam, that one I at least grok / reclaimed. :) But I'd like to understand more. For my own peace of mind.

@Junebug, I keep hoping to not stop looking. Had a few years of college studies of this stuff / one of the things I majored in, but it's left me more bitter than anything & then I was being prevented from attending the services, so bit working on the community first and I trust local (meaning the forum here & the sis side) Christians to be good people so talking up. >.>

Who knows? I thought of other things for St Paul. Funny, I looked up the Saint for the day I was born & one of 2 was David, & they say (from what he said in the psalms) & otherwise they think he ad PTSD. I thought that was cool. They said he was a man after God's own heart. :)

I just think (personally) everyone's situation is depicted somewhere (lovingly) in the Bible. Eg unwed young mom, refugee, etc . Etc.

I have in the past had a weight problem. This was due to a psych med I was prescribed called Xyprexa (I'm not sure of the spelling). In 4 months time I went from a steady adult healthy weight of 135 pounds to 195! This was a jump from a size medium to 1X. Needless to say, I requested a different medicine and refused to further take the Xyprexa. However, in the next year or so, I could not shed the extra weight, sigh....

I found out that there are some Bible Studies on this area of life. This is not surprising, because with all these Pot Luck Dinners at churches, other Christians also have fallen into the overeating problem.

I am now down to a healthy weight after having taken several of these Bible Studies over the years. The one I am doing now is called TASTE FOR TRUTH by Barb Raveling. It is a book and it has a companion book also, called I DESERVE A DONUT. This companion book is the best weight loss book I have ever read, as it has lists of questions you ask yourself for every imaginable occasion one can encounter that brings about overeating.

These books of hers, among others, are available on this amazon.com webpage:

Here is one Bible verse that also helps me concerning this part of my life:

1 Corinthians 6:12New Living Translation (NLT)

"You say, 'I am allowed to do anything'—but not everything is good for you. And even though 'I am allowed to do anything,' I must not become a slave to anything."

Food and eating can definitely become something one is a slave to, if one is not careful. In fact, in the United States, being overweight (and all the health problems that come with it) is said to be a common problem.
