Diagnosing something on paper is not necessarily the actual diagnosis they give in medical records, legal documents or insurance requirements. Anything legal will require a diagnostic code, and cPTSD does not have one, other than the one for PTSD itself, which means on legal documents, you are diagnosed PTSD.

Until the ICD 11 release an official version with a diagnostic code, it doesn't exist and all will come under PTSD's code, regardless what the diagnostician calls it on paper. Everyone with cPTSD will be able to legalise it soon enough.... with an actual code, once ICD 11 is released. It is in beta phase at present, and hopefully released this year.
